Bart 4 Posted March 31 Posted March 31 I have a Carver reciever with an intermittent left channel. Messed with all of the controls, and the mute button was acting up. I opened it up and cleaned all of the controls and switches. I turned it on and it worked fine, so let it play for a couple of hours. I closed it up, and put it in my system, and it worked about 20 minutes til the left was out again. Same thing with the mute button... Repeat a few more times, and I can actually press down on the chassis, and make the channel go in and out. I have resoldered everything on the board. Still comes and goes. I suspect the crunchy cable connecting the bass treble and mid control board beneath it may be the culprit. Any ideas on replacing it? Can I buy the correct cable, or do I make my own ribbon cable? Thanks in advance 4
BobTFM35 2,571 Posted March 31 Posted March 31 (edited) Welcome to the Carver Site!! Is this sim to what you are talking about? I think this is the PA-509 board. No, this is not my board!! Its just a typical example of what I could find. Looks like the 4 pin connector is directly in line with the mute button. (Right bottom side of the bottom picture.) You might be able to purchase a 7P ribbon cable to replace the one that is suspect. If not a 4 + 3 might work. Edited March 31 by BobTFM35 1
BobTFM35 2,571 Posted March 31 Posted March 31 (edited) This is the other board for bass, mid, and treb. Edited March 31 by BobTFM35 1
BobTFM35 2,571 Posted March 31 Posted March 31 (edited) Sorted to get the results for a 7 conductor cable. https://www.digikey.com/en/products/filter/flat-ribbon-cables/472? Edited March 31 by BobTFM35 1
