Crimping or Cold Welding vs Soldering for high current cable applications.

I've noticed some audio cable companies advertising cold welded joints on their connectors. I've been researching solar applications and the cold welding/crimping vs soldering of high current cables is recommended and this video by Will P. explains why and how to do it properly. Granted audio applications are not likely to generate temps capable of melting solder, the reasons behind cold welding of joints on cables was interesting. Hope you enjoy!

Definitely a nice one.  explained in simple terms with a clear "here's why" test.

FWIW, all "mil-spec" connections to multi-pin Amphenol connectors are also crimped using calibrated tools.  every XXXth connection is also quality checked for resistance and pullout force to ensure the crimper still does the job right.
