Have never heard Days of New, but will check it out when I have an opportunity. I agree with Z, Tricycle, by Flim and the BB's, is an excellent production. I'll add one of my favorites that's a really clean recording and an excellent aural experience - that would be William Orbit's Torch Song - toward the unknown region

Thanks

You won't find Days of New--It's " Days of the New" Does it make a diff on which copy you get of Tricycle or Torch Song-Toward the Unknown Region like it does with sooo many other recordings that I have found. IE just because it's the same artist it is sometimes not the same re-mix?

Aside from a number of Joe Jackson albums I would submit the debut CD from the Psychodots

Here's a CD that shows just what can be done when three strong musicians form a power-pop trio and craft a truly great record.  It's tough to find now but can be had at artist-shop.com

As far as I am aware there is only one "version" of TriCycle.

WARNING - This disc has an incredible dynamic range and starts out relatively quietly.
You will be tempted to turn up up the gain but for the sake of your speakers DON'T DO IT !!!

From Wikipedia: re: Flim $ the BBs / Tricycle

While they were recording their first album at Sound 80 studios, they met Tom Jung, who produced their first album, and also produced their five following albums for DMP Records, which he founded. Their second album, "Tricycle", was the first non-classical recording to be released on the then new compact disc format. The artwork for their "Tricycle" album was drawn by Bill Berg's son, Jacob. It also was the first album to be completely mastered in the digital domain, as only the few feet of microphone cable and the musicians' instruments are the only part of the process that is considered to be "analog". When recording their albums, instead of over-dubbing the music to make it come together, all of the artists played in the same room at the same time, giving the album a sense of fullness. Minimal overdubs were used after the majority of the album was completed.

They went on to release four more albums for DMP Digital Music Products, all to critical acclaim, as each album won Digital Audio's "Jazz CD of the Year" award. After the release of their album "The Further Adventures of Flim & The BB's", they parted ways with DMP Records and signed to Warner Bros. Records. They released their album "New Pants" in 1990 to much anticipation. However, critics and audiophiles both were quick to point out that the sound quality of the album did not match the standards that they had set for themselves during their tenure at DMP. Another album, "This Is A Recording", was released in 1992 to little attention, at which point the group broke up.[citation needed]

DMP Records released two of their albums "Tricycle" and "Big Notes", on a limited edition gold plated disc. These copies are 20-bit remasters, and are generally considered to be of a higher fidelity than the original releases, which were already of high quality.

I am looking for a copy.....eusa_think.gif

Was actually researching this a couple weeks back, and the Wiki-reference was still in my recent memory..Their first album was recorded on an experimantal recorder that has been destroyed rendering the original master tapes unreadable...bummer.
