Not sure why the original thread got locked but I wanted to report that after reading many reviews and a discussion with the ebay proprieter I purchased these:AKG K 701 K701 Open Back DynaMic Reference Headphones

Got them for a great price and they are not used but "new" to boot.  I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try them.  I will be using my C-1 built in headphone amp initially and if I find I need to I will move onto another headphone amp in the future.  Any suggestions there???

I would listen to them first before geting into a hedphone tube amp. Tube amps could sound better depending on the specs of the headphones. The higher the ohm rating the more detail your going to hear from what I can tell with my WA6.

Given that Rabbit had the last post in the thread, I would guess it's related to the most recent purge.

Those are good headphones for your C-1. But if you drop some bucks into a headphone tube amp your going to want to go anywhere from 200 ohms on up to 600 ohms say.

Do I recall correctly that you have a special made rack for your headphone collection? What's the count up to?

I hope you find these are keepers and enjoy them.
