  1. Get the Weller. Replacement parts are available, it's well built and should last a long time.

You didn't say what exactly isn't working. Does it power up? Replace the relays first. If you get sound, you know the power supplies are functional. You should go slow, paying close attention to capacitor polarity. Take pictures before you touch anything so you can refer back to them if you have any question as to "how it was". The faintest ink is better than the best memory...

I would verify all of the power supply and amplifier sections are working before touching the tuner trimmer. Do you have the procedure and tools to align the tuner properly?

Glad to be here, new member from Virginia. Recently got interested in Carver and have acquired several units:

C1 pre - I would like to recap this soon

M1.0t - Hopefully the MKII opt 2 is in order

M500t - Also hoping to do the MKII

    A set of ALIIIs

I'm planning on bi-amping the ALIIIs with the M500t running the ribbons and the M1.0t running the subs.

    Any advice/recommendations?

Welcome !! We are all happy you are on board.

Advice? Take your wallet out of your pocket. Hold it in both hands. Talk to it gently, explaining how you are sorry for what you are about to do to it. Let it know it will be OK after it gets a chance to recover - probably in 3 - 5 years...

    Recommendations?

The C-1 should be given the "BillD" treatment. Easily one of the best "bang for your buck" mods you can do and it creates an excellent foundation for a system.

Your choice of amplification is excellent, IMHO. You will have plenty of clean power on tap, especially once they are both updated / upgraded.

Check the foam surround on the woofers in the ALIIIs. If they are original they will need the surrounds replaced.

  3. In other words, racism / bigotry / prejudice does not happen unless it is perpetrated by WASPs. We care not for who the best qualified person for any said position might be, only that something about them must be different from a heterosexual white person of European descent - you know, roughly 64% of this country's population.

    Got it.

    Fuck Hollywood.

My vote for most overrated film in history goes to The Blair Witch Project.  I could not believe this film actually made it into the box office.  I could not watch it, it was so poorly done.  It was as if a bunch of teenagers went out into the woods with their cell phone camera's taking footage.  Besides, it was so jerky and unsteady it made me nauseous.  Worst film I've ever suffered through, though only briefly since I shut it off.

Agreed - I remember the marketing strategy of this film was genius... Unfortunately, that's about all it had going for it.  I don't recall ever being less "afraid" watching a horror movie, than I was watching this one!

Blair witch project, lol such a bad movie.  It was filmed in the country west of Baltimore near Frederick!  A bunch of kids for a school project I think!

    i could not watch it!

I remember reading an article about this movie by humorist Dave Barry.  He said they must have made the cinematic decision to strap the camera to the head of a hyperactive seal.

What a bunch of losers. You guys couldn't identify great cinematography if it was dropped on your heads via a 70mm IMAX film roll !!! Newsflash - it was supposed to be filmed all herky-jerky. It made it more lifelike and super scary - duhhh !!! Tell me you didn't have terror in your heart when Heather found Mike standing in the corner, screaming his name - and he wouldn't turn around - and then the camera dropped. 😲😲😲😲😲😲

Talk about true talent in cinematography !!! Why don't you Scorsese wannabes take your $60,000 and make a cinematic masterpiece? I'll wait...

Next you're going to say that Barney Rubble wasn't a good actor.

  5. Welcome !!

Nice amp - I'm partial to the M1.0t myself. I've managed to collect a few over the years. I wouldn't say it's a ticking time bomb - I'd say it's more of a ticking disappointment. You have a family / friends gathering and the music is playing and then a cap lets go and the music stops.

Send it to Greg at NelionAudio.com and he will whip it into shape with all sorts of high quality upgrade parts. It will be good for another 30 years and it will sound awesome.

What speakers are you driving with it?

The straw that broke my back is the latest offering "Cuties" - a film that blatantly and unabashedly sexualizes not just minor girls, but girls as young as 11.

It's a free world (for now), and if Netflix has enough interest in their audience for this drivel, then more power to them - I'm not angry, more sad, because I know what they are capable of, and I stand perplexed that they have sold themselves so far down the river of "woke culture".  Or maybe it's just me...

There's two camels with broken backs now Mark. I just heard about this show from a friend yesterday afternoon. I find myself in a difficult position. I want to watch the film to see if the content actually represents the media noise around the advertising but I don't want to support an immoral, sick production if that is truly what it is. I will choose the safer avenue and just not watch it. The sad thing is if the film actually has value and does not depict children in a poor manner it is receiving huge backlash from just the advertising done for it so far. Maybe morons in advertising will learn from the experience - but probably not.

Selfishly I hope Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. all go this route, along with cable TV. Then, maybe, Americans (especially children) will learn to again find great value and satisfaction in playing with friends outside, having hobbies that require physical motion, reading quality books and learning about our world and the amazing things and people who live on it.

  7. Welcome !!

Time to slide some main line Carver amplification into the signal chain !!

Thanks for joining us. We appreciate having new members on the site.

EDIT - I almost forgot - be wary of a particular member that goes by RodH. If you get a PM from him regarding sheep or goats please report to the Community Admin so he can reel him back in. He's mostly harmless - unless you are a sheep or goat...

There's a sense relay that opens, I set the TV as master and I've slaved my Roku, WDTV Hub, Onkyo AV, C-1 and M-1.5t to it.  It's a slick way to completely shut it all down since the M-1.5t has no power switch.  I only hear a slight barely audible tick at power off.  There's no noise at all on power up.

Care to share the source for the sense relay?
