You guys make a convincing case. The CA pair of 2.5i are reasonably close to me. The foam strip on the side of the tweeter looks deteriorated - is this essential to the function? Can it be replaced?

I have seen a lot of talk on this forum about NHT speakers. I had not even herd of the brand before I joined here. I will be putting a new system together this summer, and I was going to try amd find some older Polk speakers, maybe some SDA 2. How do the NHT sound? Loudness is not important to me, but clarity and sound stage are what I am looking for.

I've been a lurker for a while, and figured I might as well join up. Over the years I've had several nice systems, but poor life choices have seen them sold off (or carried off by an x-wife). I have been without a system for the past year or so, and am now in a position to start building again, which is fine by me because I honestly have as much fun building the system as I do listening to it. Of all the amps I've owned, Carver has been my favorite. I have taken a lot of crap for my choice over the years. self proclaimed audiophiles have always told me that the size/heat/output combination that Carver offers is not physically possible, and that either the power numbers are fudged or there are other tradeoffs like distortion. I say BS, as these folks that bash Carver usually have never even listened to Carver, let alone owned Carver amps. Anyway, thanks for letting me in! Tom
