I have had mine since 1982. Right now it is not hooked up, but plan on firing her up real soon. I did take it for repair once in 1996. Crackly sound was coming out. Was repaired and have loved it as I have for 43 years. Many good memories with it. Thank you all for posting. I live in the Vancouver area, IF I need to take it in for repair, any suggestions would be wonderful .

Welcome to the forum. The HR895 came out in 1992 (not 1982 , typo?). I've had mine since 1999. Nice unit. Crackling sound is often caused by bad pre-driver transistors. A relatively easy fix. Hopefully you can get it up and running again. If you have any problems, be sure to post them on the forum first.

So Happy I Found The Carver Site For My HR-742

Are the main PS caps 71V 8200uF? If so, I have used ; https://www.mouser.ca/ProductDetail/Nichicon/LKSH2822MESB?qs=Ysb%2FBSeDKl2fVpBbD5gyQw%3D%3D for HR752 and CM1090 and HR895 I am no expert. If your receiver is distorted all of the time now, I would put your scope at the output and see what it looks like. Maybe put 1000 hz signal in. I recently repaired a distorted NAD 3020. The output sine wave was only distorted when I had an 8 ohm dummy load connected. Turned out to be a bad output transistor. I always do all of my testing through a dim bulb tester. I am sure others can offer better advice. -
PSB alpha. I bought these about 10years ago from a former employer for $80 CDN. His surround receiver shut down trying to drive these in 5.1.:dd . I never had any trouble driving these with the 35 watt rear channels on the HR895.
