Heading out to pick some of these up. Look extremely clean and all EMIM's are said to be rebuilt 10 yrs ago. Woofers have been refoamed. Seems to be a deal on them so I'm gonna try em out. Will be bi-amping with an M-500t on top and 1.0t on bottom. Both are scheduled to be MKII'd in a few months. Not sure if I should stick with the Infinity x-over and EQ that comes with them or go another route?

Gene would be your source of info for those but oh yeah!!!! Personally I'd use the stock crossover but that's me. I'm having Bill Thalmann redo my RS-1 crossover or whatever it's actually called. I'll let you know how it sounds when I get it back. I'd love to have a pair of 4.5s but may just try to get some 2.5s due to my lack of space around here. Don't forget the pics.
On the EMIMs are they rebuilt with Graz ribbons?

Not sure, hoping to find out when I get there. Guy said original owner sent them all back to Infinity to have them rebuilt and upgraded to the latest??? Says the guy had lots of $$. So who knows what was done because there is not any paper work for it. Gonna just have to take a close look at them. They should look like new and not 30 yrs old if the owrk was done. I have to admit I don't know much about these EMIM's and had to cram on research while at work today. Guy is selling them for like half of what others are asking so I figure give it a shot.

PM from Gene on this topic:
Those are kinda like the miniature version of the IRS Series. They got real good reviews, never got a chance to hear them but if they sound like the IRS then I'm sure you will be real happy. I would check for ribbon buzz, you can spot it with piano music or classical guitar music. My go to is a track from M83 "Midnight City" in the first 45 seconds of the song you can tell if the ribbons have a buzz or not. If you have never heard the song before familiarize yourself with it before using it as a test track. Good luck and post up photos and impressions when you get them.

Lots of talk about EMIM delamination all over the internet. Can't seem to find a good picture or description of what this looks like or what to look for. Someone said the diaphragm will look wavy, while others said this is normal??

Just do what Gene mentioned to test. Mine are original and sorta wavy. No issues. One of my Emits should be replaced. It buzzes on piano. No problems on other music but I do listen to piano so....If they were redone like he said there should be no issues unless he likes to crank metal at high volumes with underpowered amps. Which I doubt.

Thanks Gene. Just downloaded Midnight City from M83 for testing out the EMIM's. Never heard of that band. Song was not what I expected at all!! Everyone says use piano or classical music so that's what I was expecting. Actually kind of a cool sounding track.
