Just a quick question on the light dimming to the bass. I plan on getting around to installing a dedicated line.  But for now is this ( dimming), dangerous at all.  Btw the dimming is happening with led lights all throughout the house. The wiring in my place is older.  What are the chances of tripping a breaker? I read somewhere that the pm1.5a can draw 12 Amps. I have the Carver amp, nad pre-amp, cd player and a few lights hooked up to a monster cable hts 1000. I am running 4 ohm stereo. I assume after running hard for about 5 hrs last weekend...if something was about to trip it would have then?

Lights shouldn't be dimming throughout the house. Especially not LED. They should only dim if they're on the same circuit.

A breaker isn't always going to trip from an amp. Lots of transient power requirements. It takes constant overload to trip a breaker.

I'm guessing the amp is on a 15 amp circuit? If you go by code, constant power draws should be 80% of what a breaker is rated for. So if that amp is drawing 12 amps, that's all code rates that circuit for.

Fired up the pm1.5a and Cerwin Vegas again last night for another 5 hour run. Made a short video so I can download it here on the forum to show the raw power of this beast of an amp. Of course I have to figure out the video part.

...Woofer excursion reminded me of my car subwoofer days. How these things are surviving is beyond me...lol . 500 watts of deadmause causing my place to act like one big subwoofer is an absolute audio thrill. Thinking to yourself this is so loud and extreme..it almost should not be allowed. After a few hours of insane bass switch it over to the likes of Crosby stills and Nash when you know the neighbors are probably getting pissed and all the suds and smoke have you craving all the loud vocals of the 60's and 70's to truly get mellow. Doesn't get much better than that.?

 Yep.

How do they survive?

 Headroom, my friend.  No clipping.

I think you’re gettin the rhythm.

Theres  a time and a place.

Sometimes a howitzer is the right tool.  No matter how noisey it is, sometimes it just does the job perfectly, lays waste and completely handles the situation.

Sometimes a sniper rifle is the right tool, accurate and precise.

Bob Carver supplies both.

Yup..shes a beast of an amp. Running into 4 ohms every Friday night cranked without breaking a sweat. No grounding problems. Supplies loud clean power. Would buy another one in a heart beat. Most reliable power amp I have ever owned.?

At least around these parts..the 380 se and dx9 are rare.  I would go with a set of At-15's or D9's. Parts are readily available and reasonably priced.
