The Latest Happenings and Developments at the Bob Carver Factory 2023.

In this thread, you can follow along as Bob Carver LLC, the company Bob founded in Feb 2022, after a licensed builder closed during COVID. Today, Bob's company produces Bob's latest product designs and offers them internet direct to customers for the highest customer value we can offer.

 

The RPM V12 and the RAM 285 have been in development for 18 months. Some scheduling and chip shortages during COVID, made it necessary to shift priorities from RPM V12 to RAM 285 when already 75% complete on V12. The RPM V12 preamp has a small number of chips for the variety of functions and remote. This created a challenging delay. The RAM series of amplifiers are constructed with completely thru-hole construction, purely analog and have no chips, so we shifted gears accordingly and kept moving forward.

 

The RAM 285 is the first product for Bob and his team. My name is Jim Clark. I report directly to Bob Carver. I work with Bobs great team of professionals to bring his

designs to reality, while leveraging a modern business model that combines maximizing customer value with even higher performance. This enables sharing Bobs latest work with more of the people who have enjoyed his work for decades. This model allows a greater percentage of the customers investment to be focused on the product itself and the long term value the customer receives.

 

It's an exciting time. I'll post here daily. Feel free to ask questions for Bob or call me directly. Bob doesn't pay much attention to emails or the endless scam phone calls, being semi-retired (who could blame him) but I talk to him several times per week.  There is a lot of misinformation, speculation and rumor on-line. High quality Viborg non-magnetic, rhodium plated speaker binding post for 8 and 4 ohm or less taps on the rear panel of the new RAM 285. These are not inexpensive parts, but the quality is exceptional among the samples we looked at. 8 per amp. Note the 2nd RCA jack on the left channel. This is the left subwoofer output jack. It is buffered and presents no additional load to you preamp or source. Often these stereo subwoofer outputs can allow the use of shorter interconnect cable to a subwoofer.

Nice connectors but pricey, indeed. Have you ever thought about using Neutrik speakON connectors?

 

Although they are pretty universally used, I've personally just never been a fan of binding posts.

Took a trade-in Black Magic 25 towards a RAM 285. The unit will be tested, cleaned and offered as preowned today with the remainder of it's warranty for the next owners enjoyment.

The New Bob Carver Company. Bob is Back! Again!

During the COVID pandemic years, Bob Carver products were being produced in the USA by a licensed builder as Bob had plans to actually retire.

 

Unfortunately, supply chain issues, population lock-downs and illness slowed their production to the point of closing the doors late in 2021.

Unwilling to see his legacy end on a sour note, Bob came out of retirement once again in Feb 2022, and starting setting up an entirely new company armed with his greatest designs to date.

Bob Carver LLC.. is owned entirely by Bob and his family. Bob brought Jim Clark on board. Jim is the former owner of a highly certified aerospace manufacturing company and owner of Jim Clark Stereo before going to work for Bob Carver. Jim is Director of Operations and reports exclusively to Bob Carver. 

Bob Carver is Owner, Physicist and Chief Design Engineer of Electronics and Styling. Bob is involved throughout the process from design concepts to implementation of his circuit designs. Bobs signature is required at each stage of development.

Bob loves amplifiers and aircraft. His latest products reflect his lifelong passion for quality and value by design.

Thank you. It will be next up after the RAM285. The world is moving at a snails pace compared to before COVID, but they are coming. Lead times that were in weeks are now in months.

 

The Reference Preamplifier Model V12 (RPM V-12) has an excellent line stage, phono preamp, and headphone amp in one. Bob feels they are his best yet as individuals, but offered all in one. The headphone amp is a unique hybrid vacuum tube / Class A FET design. The heatsinks on top are for the headphone amp and functional.
