laatsch55 1 Posted March 28, 2011 Author Posted March 28, 2011 I did a complete restoration thread at Phoenix Audio Forum on that 700 project if anyone is interested. In the DIY section under "Larry's 700B"
laatsch55 1 Posted March 28, 2011 Author Posted March 28, 2011 Kingman, you don't wear that hat in public do ya?? Every king(man) needs a crown. Crown and Coke!!
BillD 239 Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 I did a complete restoration thread at Phoenix Audio Forum on that 700 project if anyone is interested. In the DIY section under "Larry's 700B"Excuse my stupidity, but what is the Phoenix Audio Forum all about. What is its affiliation? Is there a like set of products behind the forum?
laatsch55 1 Posted March 28, 2011 Author Posted March 28, 2011 No BillD, speakerman1 started that forum, it has links to Phoenix Audio Tape buts its a completely separate entity. Just a bunch of us vintage nuts doing our thing.
Guest jwilson55 Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Welcome laatsch55! Nice equipment! Reminds me of my first real amp...Pioneer Spec 4. I kept this amp until I bought my Phase Linear 700 Series II, then I sold it to a friend. I wish I had kept it. I always liked the big analog meters.
jazzman53 1,276 Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Welcome laatsch55, Thanks for the amp porn... we never get enough!
laatsch55 1 Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 Yes jwilson55, I'll never turn loose of my Spec's. That stuff was built to last. The first one I bought new in 1975 and finally had to replace the bias interrupt relay, the V/A stage drivers and pre-drivers all under the direction of Echowars, bless his heart. 33 years of HARD daily use, what more could you ask, and then only 15.00 to fix it??

laatsch55 1 Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 Just a poor lonely soul in upstate Wyo, how harmless could it be??
weitrhino 1,443 Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Looks like your repairs on those 700B's will be good for another 21 years! Seriously, you'll fit right in with this bunch.
