Guest xfritzx Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I just got a sunfire true subwoofer MK II and not sure how to hook it up. I'm hooking it up to a C-4000 pre amp. there are 2 hook up outlets for the amp it says use either or. so my qustion do I hook up the sub to the other one? can both those outlets be used at once? and then where do I hook up on the sub? it has one set of outlets that says hi pass out. what is that for? and on the inputs it has one set that says line in. thats where I think I should hook it up at but I want to be sure. and on the inputs there are 2 sets of speaker hook ups. what are they for? I thought to run like sattlelite speakers from, but if so why are they in the in put side?

It all depends on if you want the sub frequencies to be going to both the sub and the main speakers, or if you want to use the sub's crossover to relieve the main speakers from subwoofer frequency duty . Running preamp out from C-4000 to your main amp and the sub will feed low freq to both; you'll probably have phasing issues that'll need to be addressed with this method, but it can provide a smoother response if dialed in properly (more room modes are energized from various positions) If you run the C-4000 preamp out to the sub, then use the sub's high pass out to the mains amp, the sub's crossover will pass high frequencies on to your mains amp. The speaker level inputs are for use when you don't have a method to provide line level signal to the amp (which you do). Many receivers don't have line level outputs, so you'd hook the sub to the receiever's speaker outputs, and it will internally knock the signal back down to line level

Guest xfritzx Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I got it going and it thumps, your tips were were very helpful though. I'll have to tinker around with it awhile. I dont even know where I'm going to permenantly put it. the cats are taking an interest in it and I dont want them thinking its a scraching post. I'm thinking about getting one of the cordless signal things for it, do them work good? and it gets pretty warm is that normal?
madmike46 440 Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 What I did to fix the cat problem...... Good one Perry, that's where all cats should be if they aren't in the barn where they belong.
