I find it odd for all the technical talk not much on music. Then again when I was in the business we would talk music all day. Well that was years ago lets fast forward with these current times. I'm not asking which format is better then whatnot. I am curious how the peeps here get their music on what formats. Since you guys have me back to stereo listening (thanks to all btw). I have started to look around and cd's seem to by hit or miss on so many of these cd format. Mofi was around but certainly that was about it for different re-masterings. Now I see many formats but no real one stop shopping as it seems for titles seem to be very limited runs. Also anyone here buying hi-res digital recordings as their primary listening? If anyone wants to throw in about discs and the format they're available in? This is not about the best format. But if you like a certain format for whatever reason it would be most appreciated. For overall selection from what I have seen digital seems to offer the widest selection. I know things like mastering made a good difference back in the day. I am assuming that playing field is more or less equalized. I'm a rocker with blues and soul filling in spaces. Which is why I talk about limited selection. If someone finds Audio Fidelity subscription enjoyable let me know. Don't let my taste taint what you like. I'm just looking at the playing field trying to figure what's best form. One time my ex came home while I was listening to an lp with only hunting horns. The look on her face was worth the price of admission. I know I still laugh about it. She probably still thinks maybe I should be committed. Not really but the look and the next few questions were priceless. If there's something you don't like about a format. Please no comments like "Robust yet naive with an hint of spice on your aural sensations". So let me know if you rather not be in the spotlight send a message, text, email. Carrier pigeons are not always reliable.

Very interesting idea, I will have to try it out. Considering thei age of the SL3 and the relatively minor investment it's worth trying out. Thank you.for the tip. Mbskeam at first I wondered about 48 count box. Then I started thinking how many I might use and it's always is better enough on hand and have the same look then trying to reorder and seeing that they have a new look.

Thanks I have seen those but I did not know if they were good for audio. I feel better knowing someone that has had them.

Not that gliders were terrible. Except I'm open a couple of subwoofers and now I started thinking of the hard floor will carry the vibration. So now I want to adjust while it is easier access atm. I agree about the hard floors but what was said are what I have now. So now I can shop around and look at other options. Besides a second opinion to make sure the way I was thinking had a logical foundation. Kingman I didn't forgrt a photo. On a pc I can easily manipulate size format import export. This cell is a different story. Now I should see the tracking for the replacement pc.

Thanks that makes sense especially on a very hard floor trying to dampen vibration.

Give me a few this cell is not always as intuitive as I would like. Maybe I'm just trying to the square peg into the round hole.

My floors are hard tile over concrete. I have Martin Logan SL3's I'm using M L spikes on the front locations. I have L & R rear locations with gliders. I don't have spikes for the L & R rears. The rears being on a hard floor. Should I go for spikes or isolation/vibration (rubber) pads/feet?

long time lurker ....

As I gotten rid of some "living room" furniture for a practical man-cave and an area to do some computer work with a far better space. It is safe to say my project slowly coming about. With hours spent on my recent m1.0 Mk II listening I don't mind my project a few extra days delayed. I have like the Martin Logan sound. One humorous bit that I will share. I was listening to some Martin Logan's at one store and the Carver Amazing's at a different. Something like 40 minutes away. I had done this a few times and my purchase was some Mark Levinson electronics. While bouncing back and forth the store with the Carver's just got in the Mark Levinson as a trade in and the sales guy said for a super low price with cash before his boss got back. His boss came in as we finished the deal and was somewhat dismayed and was a bit harsh for a few minutes as he wanted to mark some extra profit. While we were talking as settled a bit things became quite friendly. The salesman was the one I knew from the store. I found out that I really came to listen to the Carver's. As he just came back from an audio show the owner offered me an excellent deal for Monster's M-1. So instead of buying speakers I bought unexpected items. My ex had gone with me and had no problems with the "monolith" sized Carver's. They were black for those keeping scorecards. My busy season was coming up and other life issues intervened . I had Vandersteen 2C's and stayed with them. It wasn't cost or size it was life relationship issues. It took a few years when I had a real desire to listen to music again Carver was no longer around. This is why in the "What are you lusting for" thread I knew what my first choice would be the one item that I would love to install and compare the two and their sonic qualities. It looks like next week when I could provide correct pictures. I won't give a sound off of the amp's as one is of course the m1.0t Mk II ( wanting the opt II mod still) versus a unmodded different amp. That would be unfair to judge against. I will say the since retired RP who modded the m1.0 Mk II is very clean, quiet and really shines with detail. The sweetspot is truly great and the speakers have not been fine tuned yet While the ML's are known to require an ample amp to drive them the m1 had no problem and delivered sound without any notice of of strain.- 10 replies

Very happy with small system

The size of the room is important. Also where you live I have 4 bookcases on one wall so their wall doesn't shake much. I can't do much for my upstairs neighbor. The other wall is a firewall. Hard tile and concrete floor. My gear is similar and about maximum room size for the size for the gear. Carver's room set up falls in place. Thinking about it this might be the first time when a wall behind the listening seating won't be an issue. -
Long time lurker from on and out of the hospital. Now this is sort of a bucket lolist item but the bucket is not to have regret with things I that I can do now. I don't know about others but when you are with most women you have a living room. When not one has a man-cave. Which right now I am trying to settle in one which involves a whole face lift and trying to put items in places that work for me so no pix yet as it is a work in progress. I started getting back to listening a couple of years ago. At the time I had m200t's for me. Then I felt some electricity on one of them and moved to the bedroom Both need refurb any of course I needed something quickly. So a pair of TCM-15CB's. As I have walked away from 3 times already I figured that would be as far as I would go. Speakers were Definitive 10 a's. I would double check but too tired to go look. As my interest was rekindled I picked up a pair of Martin Logan esl's. Some might noticed that I went for a m1.0 MkII's. This was one piece of gear I really wanted to listen to since Stereophile threw the flag in after accepting the Carver Challenge. Now paired with Martin Logan the thrill has been so enjoyable. This is a semi quick intro as some gear not mentioned but will fill in some blanks next time. One last side note. If a woman has trouble with 5 feet of speaker shes not for me. I don't need a "Living Room" anymore and decided to always have a man-cave. I've wasted too much and want to enjoy the rest of this ride. I did notice others living in Florida. I'm in the West Palm Beach area maybe some sort of meeting/gathering if others are interested.
