Johnny_Law there as you are dipping your toe into the world of Carver be aware that once you are bitten by the OCCD bug there is no cure as Carver equipment will seem to be sprouting all about your premises and your significant other might get crossed by your new addiction. You have been warned. 😁

It would be hard not to have it as a sonic improvement, especially after considering the 285. Bob Carver has always been known for improving sound. I believe that Our Bobfather would lead us to the promised land once again. As 4krow has said the Carver promise will have your ears be the judge.

In my opinion I can’t say it any better than Ar9Jim put it. There are various factors already mentioned. A bad mastering is bad. I remember to avoid the Police “Greatest Hits” DVD-A because everyone said how awful it sounded. Which is no reflection on their catalog overall. No one really knows what someone else perceives is good. Obviously great things offer a great listening experience. But to truly say something as subjective as our listening is very personal opinion. I certainly will not say that I have “Golden Ears” but I know what makes me enjoy listening to music. That is something I can live with. Especially considering I don’t have a “Golden Wallet” to venture down a more costly path than others and am pretty happy.

I think the number 17 is mine. I’m using a crystal ball to make it happen. My magic 8-ball says odds are good. Of course they said the same about last week’s lottery drawing, those tickets did not win anything.

Unfortunately my experience with the dealers back in the 1980’s was not that great when it came time to audition Carver equipment except one. Looking back not only a shame but a real crime against what Bob was putting out. I am happy to get a second chance at listening pleasure that I can enjoy now. I still have a inclination to maybe try some other Carver equipment out and see if it would represent an upgrade. But I need not rush the issue. Though I have to admit I do have an itch to do so.
