  2. Welcome aboard!
  3. I spent the day reviving old cd discs I had. I decided to get more serious about my music collection and not accept a lot of the mp3 music files I had since I have saved most of the bad cd's I have ever owned. The problem was in the past I had tried to copy the cd and if it did not complete then the operation failed. (all the songs not just a bad 1 or 2) I have always used the trick of wetting down the cd's and drying them then placing them in the PC but I bought dBPoweramp cd ripper software, this allowed me that if a disc could mount in windows and display it's name the ripper software could attempt to grab the songs and try to create flac files from them, if the operation failed or took too long I could just skip that song and I could at least get the songs I could save. So I didn't get all of them but I got a lot of them! Now I am playing them off of a drive connected to my oppo 95 with the analog outputs to the sunfire! I am loving it!
  4. Yea I was thinking the amp also just wasn't indicating clipping but I would start at the beginning, youtube Diana Krall and play some piano music at low to med volume and listen up and down on the ribbons for buzzing spots, gently place his fingers around the woofers to check the surrounds. If all else fails remove the binding straps and power the subs and the ribbons alone to find the problem area. Are these the black ones that where on craigslist in Lynnwood I wonder?
  5. Ends up not the crossover, the famous daughter board connection to the mylar is bad the circuit trace is worn through, I have a trace pen and the gunk is drying right now but I need to send it in to be happy with this. I had read that there was a current delay in the materiel order right now so a quick ribbon rebuild sounds out for now.
  6. Bought a sunfire TGP-5 and when testing it (volume up) it distorted and blew the bass fuse on my ALIII. Replaced fuse but no ribbon working. (These have the high/low strips in place) So both fuses are good, checked the ribbon and it is fine. So something in the crossover is bad. I can open up my other amazing and then compare values with my multimeter to try and track down the bad component or is there a better way to find what is blown?
