loner_t 2,568 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Fantastic job! They look fabulous, and godspeed towards that 27-room mansion (Reminds me of the Chinese Emperors and their concubines.) I have to fight my spouse about putting ANYthing on top of the Piano. 1
Ratamahatta 437 Posted October 16, 2014 Author Posted October 16, 2014 Thanks! Got the other veneer in today, got it glued sanded and stained, will put some red wax on in the morning after the stain dries and post some pix tomorrow.
Gene C 1,748 Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 Nice job Rat! You should be proud of the rebuild, they look sweet! 1
Community Admin AndrewJohn 10,451 Posted October 17, 2014 Community Admin Posted October 17, 2014 Very nice !. There's a pair of these in Chicago now selling for $400. Link HERE. You have a deal at $20 + veneer and effort. 1
Ratamahatta 437 Posted October 17, 2014 Author Posted October 17, 2014 Thanks guys, If I could make $50 on the unused tweeter then I would be out of pocket about $120 on these. I will keep the extra tweeter as long as I own them though for a spare and just switch out the face-plate if need be. That guy in Chicago is crazy, maybe different market up there but I bet he could only get 2-300 at the most here after a re-foam job. There is a guy selling some 8.1 for 680 in Denver. The ones I got I paid 320 for! arg, the only upside is I sold them for way more. I don't know how much better they would sound then these, better bass I imagine but that's what a sub is for and my NHT sub ten blends perfectly with these. Thanks again for everyone's help on this project, especially the yellow glue hot iron technique, it worked great. And steering me in the right tweeter direction.
