4krow 7,525 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 A buddy of mine in Florida has blown the bass driver out in his Nobis DM5 speakers. This is a real shot in the dark, but would any of you know of a replacement driver for it? He has only told me that he thinks it is a 6.5" peerless driver with a 4 ohm rating. I would need more than that to recommend a replacement, and have not found much info on the web.
kve777 6,906 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 We're gonna need pics. I have some vintage Polk 6-1/2" drivers, if trial and error experimentation is needed.
4krow 7,525 Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 I do not know the TS parameters of the bass drivers. My friend is not tech friendly, so photos will not be an option. I did speak with him today, and he contacted Madisound and talked to someone there who seemed competent enough to suggest a replacement. Since the TS parameters of the original driver is not known, this could well be a hunt and peck strategy. I told my buddy to keep me posted as to the progress that he might make. In turn I may seek out here again. It is frustrating trouble shooting over the phone with the ignorant.
fill35U 1,848 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 If one of the drivers is still good, there's always driver measurement systems ...
4krow 7,525 Posted February 6, 2015 Author Posted February 6, 2015 I love my buddy, but he lives in the stone age. Since a week ago, he talked to a salesman who told him that the drivers he was selling were made in the same town as the Nobis speakers.....God help me to explain such things about such things. Hey, what the hell, $60 for a set of two and he is happy...and the salesman too. 1
PMAT 2,066 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 As long as it's the same zip code they will sound fine.
