When he got to the section where he talked about the weight the only thing that came to mind was, Can he get it out of his basement after its done?

DIY turntable builds fascinate me! 

Love the magnetically aligned pivot bearing idea. Simple in concept, elegant in execution I think.

Although the linear tracking arm setup is cool too. 

 

So, Jim, when are we gonna start development on the Bob Carver turntable? 

I have a direct drive plinth and platter to donate to the cause...😉
