Back when Carver started to be sold I was interested in the new tech as a self proclaimed audiophile, a frugal one. I went to many hifi shops and listened to the different models. I was impressed back then but I never got around to buying anything because I was building my own things at the time and was also dabbling in the tube world.

Just today I was searching FB market place and came across an HR-752 that looked very clean and for cheap. It is and it is now mine!

Everything works as it should but I will be giving a good clean and capacitor checkup. Unfortunately it did not come with the remote nor the antennas but I can fix the antenna problem. The remote would be nice to have even in a universal remote replacement but I haven't found anything convincing yet.

I hope to start finding more Carver bargain buys as this was totally unexpected.

Welcome to the Carver Site!!

First download the user manual (722 and 752 share the same manual) and look at the picture of the remote on page 15 and compare it very closely to a RH-75 that you will find on eBay.

After looking at the manual these are suggestions, use your own judgement.

As for remotes, two threads from 2010 cover a majority of the ones used in most of units requiring one.

Thank you to you both for the links to the remotes information.

It is shocking to me to see the prices on any of these remotes but I know they are rare. Why is it human nature to lose remotes? I only paid $60 CAD for my HR-752 so paying the same or more for a remote really feels wrong. Perhaps I should take a different viewpoint that I got such a bargain for the receiver that paying for the remote is still a good deal overall.

I agree with you on the remotes and there is no guarantee that all the functions will work.

The next possible shocker is rack handles.

When I sell remotes, I always take a picture with my smart phone, of the IR signal coming out of the remote. (Smart phone cameras pick up the IR signal flashes as purplish light).  I do this is a dark room/closet so it shows up better to give the buyer confidence that the remote is not totally dead.

Granted, that is only showing the signal for a few of the buttons pressed - and not confirming that ALL buttons work, and the signal for ALL buttons is correct..., but it is better than nothing.

When I buy a remote, I ask the seller to do the same test..., if they are legit, and they want to make the sale, they will take a picture of the IR while pressing a button and with batteries, and post it.

...just a suggestion.
