Charlie 18,114 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I'm currently running pair of 8 ohm Klipsch R15 bookshelf speakers with a pair of 4 ohm Saiyin DS6900M bookshelfs from a single BillD C1 and a pair of M4.0t amps (1 amp per pair); it sounds reall good but I'm concerned about the mismatch in impedance causing something catastrophic in the future. Am I good to go or should I come up with a better idea? Comments/Suggestions? 2
wrf 5,194 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 You are good. Each amp is independent from the other. The fact that a single C-1 is driving them both is of no consequence to the amps driving different impedance speakers. 8 1

Will Meyer 2,393 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I run 3 amps each running a separate set of speakers (Magnepan MG-12s, JBL LX-55s, and Vienna Acoustics Weburn). One of the things I noted as my set of speakers have various efficiencies, as the Maggie’s are notoriously low while the JBLs seem fairly efficient, the JBLs overpowered the Maggie’s when played together. I now use TFM-35s, as they have an attenuator, and a separate db meter to tune the speakers to get the volume matched at my normal listening volume. Probably nothing you’ll notice in a bigger room or with speakers with similar efficiency. The solution worked well for me. 2 1

They are very directional so if you aren't sitting in the right spot they sound like one speaker instead of 2; still working on the whole setup but I'm confident I can get it sorted out now that I have the resistance solved for me...
Maddmaster 1,025 Posted February 14 Posted February 14 The 8 and 4 ohm setup you're running is not a problem since both pair have a separate amp as Wayne said. If it was one amp it would see an impedance load of 2.67 which could shorten the life on the power amp or make it run hotter. Your C1 isn't affected by the speaker impedance. 1
