True I have down below 1k 3 or 4 times. I think he is at 200+ now again though.

Snow,

I think you're taking things the wrong way and are making a production over nothing.

I have to go to work, play nice.

I think you just don't want to admit when your in the wrong. I have said what I felt should be said to help avoid further brand bashing, you can take my advice or not your choice. Either way i'm not going to fight with you over it so this is my last post on this thread regarding that subject.

This will be his last post for a while.

I asked Snow to keep things civil and you can guess what kind of a reply that elicited.

He has been given a time out and I apologize for the way this thread went.

Have you had enough time with them to post some detailed listening impressions?

From what little I've been able to dig up on them they're quite spectacular.

Actually the only listening was that first night, I have not had enough time to listen again, due to the loss of my man cave and my wife changing jobs where we have more time together I just don;t have the time or space to be the audio junkie I used to be. What I did get to listen. they were spectacular.

I believe both myself and Steve overreacted in this thread, myself for responding to his comment in the way I did. Steve....  Quote (I have no idea about the speakers but Sony (as a company) is the pits.)

Myself...Quote.  That is absolute BULL5hi7!! and you know it Steve, saying Sony as a company sucks has zero relevance to this particular product, you as an Admin should be ashamed of yourself for brand bashing and even more ashamed for not having the balls to admit when your wrong.

This was rude of me and uncalled for and I apologize to Steve and the entire forum for reacting in this aggressive manner, even though I was afraid that such a negative comment on all Sony products might make the OP miss out on a great set of speakers  I could have and should have handled myself in a polite assertive way rather than aggressively.

I also feel that Steve overreacted by giving me a suspension when I allready stated earlier that I no longer wanted to fight about this. Quote...(SteveFord;135793 wrote:

He likely did not see this post before he sent me a PM which resulted in a PM by me in return of unkind words happy0009.gif and issued the suspension and responded in a way he felt would avoid further escalation.

Hopefully everyone has learned from this experience and for my part I will do my best to bite my  tongue before responding in a way that benefits no one in the future.

I say forget the whole thing and move forward.

I only piped up over Sony because I'm still mad at them over being stuck in teleprompt hell for a half hour and at the final prompt the recording basically said tough shit and disconnected the call!

Right now my main concern is to remove a very large female boa constrictor from her cage without her latching onto my face and taking out an eyeball.

This is not the nicest "pet" I've ever had,  I'll say that much.

Are they usually bite happy critters? Maybe feed it a bunny first they seem to be easy targets.

All is well in the Universe again.

Snow:  I think your point was a very good one and I am glad you made it.

Steve: If the boa takes your eye out, don't call me.  That's out of my scope.

After hours of critical listening and relentless comparison between the two I am ready to give my short reviews.

The Sony are some of the most detailed and accurate speakers I have ever heard, They're quick and the dynamics are great. There are details I hear in music I simply have not heard before. On Alice in Chains Unplugged (one of my reference CD’s) I can hear some stray fret buzzing on the guitar, I have never heard it before and it comes through so clearly on these, I can even hear mumbling conversation between band members during intros to songs. And just about everything I listen to its the same thing, just minor details other speakers left out. Sound stage is huge and accurate, you can pinpoint every instrument on stage they simply disappear when you start listening. Mids and highs just simply shine, bass response is good, tight, punchy, it just does not go all the way to the bottom but hey that's what subs are for.

The only minor drawback is when listening to these at high volume the mids can get a bit fatiguing on some passages, I have read some other reviews where the same thing was observed, even on the M9’s. I might try and see if there is a fix for this in the future but really not a big deal, their attention to detail and accuracy more than make up for it and I don't really listen that loudly anymore.

The Viennas are also a great speaker that not much escapes getting reproduced with up most accuracy. These don't have the same details as the Sony but superb nonetheless. The sound stage is wide and full. These are just an easy to listen to speaker with no fatigue. These are also a very transparent speaker as well, they too also just disappear. Highs are shimmering mids are full and since I am a drummer the snare sound particularly excellent, Every ghost note and every subtle ride cymbal tap hi hat sizzle comes through accurately and completely just like they were right there. Vocals sound natural and come through clearly. bass response on these are great as well, surprising considering their size, tight, responsive, natural and a touch more substantial than the Sonys. As with the Sonys though, they sound better with a sub.

The only drawback on these are that some albums are mildly laid back in the mids. I am guessing that's why they made the ES line as I hear they addressed this issue. It does not really bother me and they sound fantastic.

Both of these are excellent speakers and I enjoy listening to both immensely. Both are fussy about set up but not really too bad. In the end I have to give it to the Sonys just for details I don't hear on the Viennas, and that's about it, they are different but both have their own unique magic and I can highly recommend either to any serious music fanatics.
