  1. My god.. I have been beating on these $100 woofers for 16 months now. They have had to endure my heavy right hand on the volume control as my mind indulges in cold beer and flower. Rated for 275 watts rms ( 550 peak), there have been at least a dozen times where their voice coils have bottomed out hard. They are still working great. No signs of voice coil damage. 😆
  2. These $100 Goldwood 15 woofers have hundreds of hours of abuse on them. I have probably bottomed them out at least 6 times. Unbelievable, that they are still going undamaged. 🤔😆
  3. A fine $100 woofer it is! It has survived a 50 hour hard break-in. And as shown in the video, is rattling the enclosure pretty good. Suspension has loosened up some. Bass response is improving.
  4. Not a very efficient beast is it…😆
  5. Yes.. that should work out nicely lol
  6. So the top speakers are going down to 50hz…the bottom ones about 28hz. If I were to add a subwoofer, I was thinking about building a ported box for one 18” woofer. What should I tune it for 25 hz+\-…..or 45hz? Room is 12x 28.
  7. I read a few times that they need a lengthy break in to sound their best. I have about 12 hours on them currently. At about the 9 hr mark..bass response improved a bit. For a cheap woofer, they seem promising.
  8. I thought it might not be appropriate; but I wasn’t sure… and well.. my mind was a bit scrambled at the time I posted it 😆. If anyone is offended… I can understand if it gets deleted.
  9. These Goldwood woofers are filling the bottom end in nicely. Good bass response. Nice and punchy. They seem to like the cerwin vega cabinets. With the Ev cabinets on top the vocals are LOUD. I took my dogs outside last night at around 11, and I was actually a little worried about the loudness. I could have literally had an outside street party .. with my stereo still downstairs in the basement lol. Definitely, time to do some soundproofing now.
  10. <Warning: Explicit lyrics> Little bit of excursion going on . These Goldwood woofers have about 9 hours on them. Starting to loosen up: Bass response is getting better. I’m in the basement and my ceiling is vibrating… as is the ceiling above that. no smoking voice coils anyways . Not bad for $100 woofers!😆😆😆
  11. So after 3 hours it’s time to lay down some Carver power into these $100 woofers to loosen the suspension up and break them in quicker 😆😆
  12. Do I have pumping some decent power into them for a few hours. Maybe they need a decent break in, but imo they are not as efficient as their specs state. Definitely, not as efficient as the Vegas. I would estimate that they are at least 3db less efficient.
  13. So for $100 a piece usd.. these things sound damn good. Of course the suspension needs to loosen up.. but first impressions are good. They are quite punchy. If they are not on par with the Vegas.. they are not far off. They sound really nice .
  14. I looked them over closely lol. Not even a scratch. They are going in my ‘ Frankenstein’s’ . One of the Vegas threw in the towel. Not blown, but there is a break in the speaker lead(s), going into the coil under the dust cap.
  15. As mentioned, these drivers have a lot of great reviews. They look like they are well built. For about $210 usd ( $269 cdn ).. appears to be a great deal. I wonder if they really need a break in , with not pumping too much power into them?? I have never worried about this before lol
  16. At least they look undamaged…
  17. Man, I don’t know who is to blame here. The distributor for the pathetic attempt at packaging.. or Ups?? I have ordered stuff for years , from all over the world: this is the first time I have received a package in such piss poor shape. The woofer outer steel lip was actually sticking out of the box, resting on my deck.😡 Thankfully, after closely inspecting both drivers.. I don’t see any damage. Regardless.. nothing but incompetence/ negligence imo. I feel like calling up Amazon and requesting a refund.
  18. Yup.. sometimes a combination of parts from different models of the same manufacturer… yields the best results.
  19. Indeed. I have no idea why Cv only made them for a few years. I have only seen 2 pair for sale around these parts in the last 15 years. I bought one of the pairs. 😆
  20. The 380se’s are 4 ohms. The pm1250 I’m running is 600 wpc into 4 ohm stereo. 500 clean watts rms would be no problem for the 380se’s. Imo, their 405 watt rating is on the conservative side lol.
  21. Find a pair of cerwin vega 380se’s. These will play Lower , and sound a lot better than your V-15’s. When these came out, they warmed the hearts of a few audio magazine critics, for their overall sound quality. I have owned a pair of d9’s and At15’s. Imo, they cannot touch the 380 se’s for power handling and sound quality. I bought a pair about 5 years back. Ran the piss out of them with my old pm1.5a and current pm1201. Only problem that I have encountered is one of the leads going into the voice coil let go.( from age/ excursion )Voice coil itself is fine. I literally ran 400+ watts rms into them for 5-6 hours at a time. Find a pair, and recap the crossovers. They only made them for a few years… so they will be hard to find.
