  1. Hey Jeffrey Welcome!! Great to have you. The on-call techs should be back to you momentarily. Glad that you found us. Lots of good stuff going on here all the time so stick around and check it out. Lots of great guys here who are so much fun to hang with. Much more here than technical advice but that aspect is absolutely here. So glad to have you!!!
  2. My record store guy recommended Nashville's Emma Swift covers of Dylans stuff. She is no Allison Kraus but it's a great recording. As you may expect, it has alot more clarity than Dylan's crooning. And much more patience. A little on the country side of things for the sound but not too much. Her voice. (I play it loud w/SH) makes the tales quite believable and is an interesting take on Dylan. For a taste, check out "You're A Big Girl Now".

  8. I have the 2011 "Music on Vinyl" recording of SRV - Couldnt Stand the Weather. Amazing recording. Tin Pan Alley gives me goose bumps. I also have a 2005 "Friday Music" recording of Boz Scaggs - Some Change. Pretty incredible voice and recording of it.

  17. AJA: Peg - "Done up in blueprint blue" got my attention. Being a Landscape Architecture student studying design made me think....i know that color. Listening to that record began my conversion from a rock-only guy to a jazz guy. When i wasnt working, drinking, studying or chasing tail, i used to hang out in the local stereo shops jawing with the guys who worked there. They all knew that i had no money but when the store was empty they liked the company and obliged my requests to enter the "high-end" room. After a couple visits i showed up with some beer and our relationship was cemented. It was at that point that i learned about jazz because they did not play rock and my tastes and awareness changed. They played old, main stream and fusion jazz. AJA arrived and they played it. So did the Indy stations and along with their other alternative music shaped my tastes. Apparently AJA was a breakthrough at the time and i have gone through the stages of being enthralled with it, burned out with it to liking to listen to it at high volumes occasionally. It is an exciting record that i never expected from Steely Dan. Being a design minimalist, i like the jacket design.
  18. I think that this is a great idea Kevin. Thank you. "Discuss it to Death"- we are entirely capable of that😆.
  19. I have had all of these thoughts. My music purchases have leaned toward sound quality vs. performance for a long time now. And includes a deliberate research effort to determine beforehand how a recording is rated prior to purchase. When i listen to a poor quality recording i feel like i am missing out (unless it is just background music which is seldom). I still get such a thrill out of an excellent sounding recording and dont mind researching them and paying for them. For me it seems more like deep appreciation for good sound vs. snobbery. Lastly, i get turned onto some really good music from the guys on this site, for which i am very grateful.
