I haven't heard that model of Apogee, but do own the Scintilla and have owned the ALS Platinum Ribbons in general are pretty amazing, they give phenomenal and realistic detail. Some speakers are better than others blending cone drivers with ribbons though, so have a good listen. I'm willing to bet the Apogees will be better than the Walsh's though

I made my own from a negative ion generator meant to plug into a PC USB port and a wall wart. It works really good to eliminate static. I think the whole thing cost less than $10

Overall Speaker Performance - 4.5 (never seen a 5 unless cost-no-object but even those aren't perfect) - For anywhere near the money, better than any of the several electrostat or planar's I've owned. Ok, here is a preliminary shot of today's score. Ignore the "nice" wood panel walls as that is the winter project to yet be dry-walled. Anyway the room as about 14' wide by 23' long. I plan on moving the components to the rear or side wall once I get a longer HDMI cable as these monsters take up a lot more space than my previous speakers. Difficult to say how they compare to the Platinums as an A/B comparison would be difficult as both systems are on different floors. My brother lent me the newest Rambo movie as I never did see it. These Polks have a lot of impact paired with the 2 M&K subs. I set up the receiver to not have a center channel and it really doesn't leave any audible hole with only the 2 Polks up front so ignore the MK laying on it's side below the LCD

The fellow also threw in a mint Sony CDP-C701ES 5 disc changer with rosewood side panels, and a mint Yamaha RX-V1070 receiver. Also included a 10' pair of factory terminated 12 ga. Monster cable. I'm currently listening to the CDP on my 2 channel Platinum's system and it sounds pretty amazing.

Can I put the Polk's (Fender) back now, please? Not today, my good man. I'm feeling saucy. Yup, mission accomplished. They are in SUPERB and like new condition. All drivers working, no scratches, grill and side cloths are perfect.Even came with the factory interconnect cord. Will post photos when they are in their final resting place. Due to overwhelming approval I'll be picking them up tomorrow. It wasn't in the cards for him to now meet tonight, so he said he'd wait for me first tomorrow to see and get first crack at them.....which likely won't be a difficult decision.
