chiroacademy 833 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 After hearing these speakers at AXPONA I was blown away. Best sounding speakers at the show. I've lusted after them ever since and the UPS man was nice enough to bring me a pair today 1
chiroacademy 833 Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Pics are coming. Just got them set up. Much smaller than the VonSchweikerts.
chiroacademy 833 Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Amazing bass for such a little speaker. Much better highs. The sound stage is about the same but I had a great sound stage to begin with. A lot less muddy when cranked up.
zumbini 6,150 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Congrats on the new speakers Mike. Glad you are happy with them. I'll try to be patient but.....
chiroacademy 833 Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Listening to Nora Jones (a go to album for new equipment) and the sound is simply amazing. 8
Herbies101 14 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Holy sh!t dude that bottom pic is bada$$ !! Looks good turn it up!
PMAT 2,042 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Wow very nice! Great looking rig. Those look like folded ribbons, AMT style.
PMAT 2,042 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 THAT is a knarly spider behind the right M500!
chiroacademy 833 Posted September 5, 2015 Author Posted September 5, 2015 What did I just do? I was listening to the Carver Reference Disc. Unbelievable I couldn't believe how amazing it sounded. I turned it up a notch, maybe a couple notches and both amps (M500 t MK II) went dead simultaneously. They are both hotter than 5hi7.

RodH 4,866 Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Uhhh.... ~4 ohm speakers on bridged amps? OK at low volume, however..... Hope they are OK after a cool down! Please let us know.
chiroacademy 833 Posted September 5, 2015 Author Posted September 5, 2015 Just cooled down and they both are functioning fine
chiroacademy 833 Posted September 5, 2015 Author Posted September 5, 2015 I was so excited to hear them I wasn't thinking. What is the best way to handle this?
RodH 4,866 Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 YES! Bridging may not be a good option with those. Can they be bi-amped?
chiroacademy 833 Posted September 5, 2015 Author Posted September 5, 2015 They can't be bi-amped. Just run one amp?
loner_t 2,568 Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 They can't be bi-amped. Just run one amp? There is a slightly OT discussion about Power Steering Mode and using just one channel on each m500t and letting it borrow power from the other side, if necessary, without bridging. This is also what prompted my question. Will keep an eye on the m500t s that I have.

RodH 4,866 Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 At the moment, yes. I'm sure with a little thought, and maybe a few simple modifications, there are other options. For now, you could run one speaker off just one output of each amp and take advantage of 'power steering'. Cue Zumbini!

RodH 4,866 Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Are you interested in modding the speakers? Not really an acceptable option for NEW speakers, but if you could separate the high frequency side from the low side, passive bi-amping is an option,. To take it further, removing the passive crossovers and going active is also possible as you already do have enough amplifiers to do that. Requires an external active crossover though. The rabbit hole.....
