What's up guys?

Long story short, in my teens (20 years ago), I was into car audio as much or more than home audio. In high school, I dreamed of owning a Cerwin Vega Stroker. Way too expensive for me at that time ($1000+)..

Fast forward 12 years (2008), a few BNIB ones were on Ebay. I ordered a 12" for a car install, but they sent me a 15 by accident. I kept it BNIB and told myself I would 'never' take it out of the plastic. It still sets like that.

2016-I'm back into home audio. Using my TFM-24 that I have had for 20 years, CT27 preamp, and a recently purchased M400T Cube that has been serviced (I won't mention the speakers, thats another story). I came across a BNIB Stroker 12 on CL, and decided to buy it and actually use it.

Here is a pic. Built the box that CV spec'd, but tuned it to 38hz rather than 45. I can honestly say that this is the most efficient subwoofer that I have ever experienced in my life. With minimal input power (~75 watts indicated on the TFM24), it puts out a tremendous thunder. With ~200 watts indicated, the pictures and decorations are nearly falling off the walls. It's rated to 1000 RMS!

Welcome to the site, bass is king. What are you going to do on the outside of the box?

Thanks for the pic trav!

I'm curious too on your plans for the outside of the "box"--or are you going to hide it somewhere.

...and please, mention the speakers--or better yet--more pics :-))

Very nice. Like the port with the flared exit.. Back in the day we only had PVC pipe. Thanks for sharing..

Thanks for the pics, Travis! emsmile.gif

That's a very serious driver! Not as much excursion by today's standards, but that's OK because of the relatively high Fs. LLT tuning would be around 35Hz optimal, so a convenient relatively short port? She wouldn't benefit much from a bigger box, so CV's suggested size is probably optimal. That thing must have some insane output around the tuning frequency!

Is the adjustable suspension bias to reduce 2nd order distortion?

The port is 6" diameter and fairly long (14"), but you're right, output is insane around the tuning freq.

CV specifically says in the directions to NOT mess with the visable spider setting.

Well, 14" is darn *short* for most modern subs with low tuning!
What kind of bracing did you use for the box?

Interesting, they must tune at the factory. The newer version adds another spider, inverted near the bottom one, and I think eliminates the bias adjustment.

Travis welcome to the site, thanks for the pics.
How about some of the rest of your system.
Also please tell us what types of music and artists/bands you enjoy listening to.

Thanks for all of the kind words!

Here are my amps, preamp and mixer. TFM-24 that I have had since 1996/age 16, that is running the Stroker. CT27 preamp, M400T Cube with recent recap, and a cheezy mixer. The mixer is being used to be able to control the level of the Stroker. The other item is a Harrison Labs X-Connect. It's an adjustable attenuator.  One channel of my TFM-24 is a tiny bit stronger that the other one, so this allows me to adjust the input signal to match them up.
