Vin 6 Posted October 12, 2016 Author Posted October 12, 2016 Howdy Vin and welcome to the forum. Thanks for introducing yourself and posting some pix. Sounds like the tray drive belt on your 490t is slipping which is not unusual for an older CDP. As a temporary "fix" remove the cover, push out the tray, insert your CD and it should load. If it doesn't load push the tray back in and press play. Belt size is listed HERE. For more info about changing the belt read SD/A 490t door won't open. Good luck getting your system working! Thank you! Sure enough the belt was shot. I was able to get a disc in and wired the CD directly to the amp. It sounds amazing! Now I am extra excited to get a new pre-amp! Thanks everyone for all the advice already and the warm welcome! 1
dcl 3,276 Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Vin, you've entered The Dark Side*, a handsome Carver combination. Glad to hear you have it worked out! *Also, synonymous with OCCD. 1
Vin 6 Posted October 13, 2016 Author Posted October 13, 2016 So the guy with the c-11 still has it, but is getting back to me later. I think I should listen to the experience here and go with that one. (I'm not going to lie, just going by appearance it looks like a step down but I'm a new and don't really need all the fancy digital stuff) In the meantime here are a couple bad low light pics of my klh virtuoso 6v speakers. I can't really find much info on them. They also came with this box, not sure if I need it or even what it does lol. 1
B-Man 4,780 Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Hi Vin - welcome to the nut house !!! Not to rain on the C-11 parade, but you will need to keep your CT-17 to use a a tuner or buy a separate tuner if you want to listen to the radio. The C-11 is a pre-amp only. Your CT-17 is a pre-amp / tuner. That said, black Carver tuners can usually be had for a decent price, as long as you don't try to nab a TX-11b. Thanks for sharing and good luck. Brian 1
MORE CARVER'S PLEASE 99 Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 Hey Vin, Welcome to the forum... Nice system..... so cool it was your dad's system.... enjoy your system and enjoy the forum.. Thanks for sharing... MCP :-) 1
zumbini 6,147 Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 ....In the meantime here are a couple bad low light pics of my klh virtuoso 6v speakers. I can't really find much info on them. They also came with this box, not sure if I need it or even what it does lol. According to my research the Virtuoso 6V was manufactured in 1991. It has a 1" dome tweeter, 4.5" midrange, and two 6.5" woofers. Frequency response - 29hz-29khz +/- 3db. Sensitivity - 88db. MSRP - $1550 per pair. The "box" (EQ6V) appears to be an equalizer designed to be placed in a tape/processor loop. Typically speakers sold with an EQ sound weak at one or both frequency extremes when used without the 'black box'. 2
