Billie Hart, Multidirectional was released on November 25, 2025.

"Serving as a celebration of his upcoming 85th birthday (November 29), the incomparable master drummer Billy Hart—whose musical sensibilities continually surprise regardless of context—releases his first live album with his esteemed quartet: tenorist Mark Turner, pianist Ethan Iverson, and bassist Ben Street. Multidirectional was recorded at NYC’s Smoke Jazz Club, featuring previously recorded material—including originals from three members of the quartet and a cover—that gains fascinating new perspectives and colors in an ode to both discipline and freedom."

I saw them a few years back and would really like to see them again.

Surprisingly, I got a response from Andi Howard.

"Russ Freeman and The Rippingtons have retired so no touring unfortunately .   You can still purchase Rippingtons  catalogue on Amazon"

I told Andi that I was looking for SACD, but I guess (s)he thought I was asking about CDs.

Kim Scott, Livin' It Up was released on February 28, 2025.

:Kim’s sixth album, “Livin’ It Up,” released just a few weeks ago. The title is a direct reflection of her spirit of joy, and the set of songs reflects her diversity of musical style. From the exotic Spanish “Alma de Lisbon” to the funky Miles Davis/Herb Alpert mashup “So What if I Rise?” to the African beats of the inspiring women’s anthem “You Got the Power,” Kim Scott’s personality shines through."

Kenny Barron, Songbook was released on November 14, 2025.

"When Kenny Barron turns 82, it is with the grace of a musician whose years of listening, playing and imagining have subtly transformed into a kind of quiet mastery. He is no longer simply a pianist who makes notes, but a composer of spaces, a curator of moods, a storyteller who uses the keys as much as brushes. In his latest venture, Songbook, he chooses not the bombastic flourish of youth, but the thoughtful cadence of voice and trio piano, inviting us into a room where sound is as much a conversation as a performance."

The Kanneh-Masons, River of Music was released on September 12, 2025.

"t’s been five years since the entire Kanneh-Mason family recorded together – Carnival of the Animals (12/20). This new album, ‘River of Music’, with its various opportunities for solo display as well as collaboration, shows how much these musicians have grown in the interim. There are three selections where all seven siblings have a part: a touching, atmospheric arrangement of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s version of ‘Deep River’; a quietly uplifting version of the Welsh hymn Ar Lan y Môr; and Hiraeth, an original work of tender nobility by Isata, the eldest Kanneh-Mason."

Paolo Fresu, Kind of Miles was released on April 11, 2025.

"kind of MILES is an entirely different take on the lessons of Davis. This is a studio-recorded companion album to a multi-media theatrical concert Fresu toured with in 2024. It wove together images, narration, and sounds from the life of Davis and Fresu himself, accompanied by two live bands on each side of the stage: one acoustic, and one electric. Fresu stayed in the middle, moving between the two.

The album takes an impressionistic view of Davis’ music. Just as an abstract painting may contain recognizable images that float in and out, kind of MILES is mostly original compositions from band members creating impressions of Davis’ style with occasional standards from Davis’ repertoire. Fresu remains himself throughout, contributing new music rather than reproducing, and by doing so he best honors Davis’ influence."

James Suggs, For All We Know was released on November 7, 2025.

"Every bandleader who enters a recording studio presumably does so with a specific game plan either in hand or in mind. And as is true of any idea, some outcomes are better than others. James Suggs, a splendid trumpeter, has enlisted several able sidemen for support on his second album as leader, For All We Know. What he has not done—surely unwittingly—is develop a blueprint whose parts are better than average, and in some cases, it must be conceded, less than that."

Steve Houghton Group, And Then Some was released on September 20, 2025.

"On his latest project, Houghton’s thoughtfulness finds a natural counterpart in pianist Steve Allee, a longtime collaborator whose harmonic palette gives the album its emotional center. Together, they lead a group that moves with a quiet assurance, confident enough to underplay."

Kevin Brown Quintet, Adventus was released on November 25, 2025.

“This collection of music seeks to recreate that space for reflection and preparation through revisiting specific historical music that has been traditionally used during the period of Advent. Through some study of Medieval music and participation in more liturgical traditions, I have come to appreciate the beauty of this historical music. Yet, at the same time, contemporary ears can’t help but hear and explore new ways of bringing the music to life.”

Jessy J, Terranova was released on April 4, 2025.

"Veteran saxist Jessy J brings her strong tone to her latest release that includes the strong support of David Garfield/key, Brian Bromberg/b, Gorden Campbell/dr, Paul Brown-Shane Theriot/g and various other all stars. Most of the material is her own, and she’s pretty as all get out on “Fresh” while lyrical as she sings along on a sensuous read of “No More Blues”. “Mister Magic” includes a hip solo by the leader and an irresistible bass line from Darryl Bannerman, “Piel Canela” having the leader at her most flavorful. Beauty and brawn."

Gary Hoey, Avalanche was released on May 9, 2025.

"On his latest album ‘Avalanche’, that was mixed by the famous producer Max Norman it becomes clear that Gary has gone back to his rock roots.

But the fact is that Gary Hoey as an all-round musician does more than enough on this album to at least advise you to have a listen. His guitar work is outstanding, his singing reasonable, the overall sound is good, so, it has not been a bad experience."

Max Norman was one of Ozzie's producers.

This album is a hard rock & blues creation, and Hoey is a very good guitarist in both genres. I'm not really a fan of his voice, but most certainly he wouldn't be a fan of mine, either. :D

John Scofield & Dave Holland, Memories of Home was released on November 21, 2025

"American guitarist John Scofield and British bassist Dave Holland, two jazz heavyweights with a tremendous shared oeuvre, join forces for their first duo record, join forces for their first duo record, Memories of Home. Recorded after extensive touring together, the album its something to stick with, as they refine and hone abundant musical ideas in nine old and new compositions—five by Scofield and four by Holland. In the past, they spread their talent in projects by pianist Herbie Hancock and saxophonist Joe Henderson, and co-led the quartet ScoLoHoFo with saxist Joe Lovano and drummer Al Foster."
