Carver Collecter 8
My M1.5 seems to mount nicely in between the rack rails of Middle Atlantic gear. The notches cut into the factory faceplate line up and the device fits between the rack rail edges. However, my C-1 preamp side screws protrude too far and the unit will not fit between the edges of the rack rails. All I can think of is to grind the rail edges back a bit. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this normal on the carver devices that have the early rack mounting notched faceplates? Thank you. BobTFM35 1,623
@Carver Collecter Welcome to the Carver site! Question- What is the color of your C-1 face plate, champagne gold or charcoal?
jeffs 2,604
I assume both pieces have the factory notched faces. Reply is based on that. I've made my own racks and have a bit of control over width. I've used Sanus racks that had a bit of adjustability in the width. I could get clearance in those situations. Can you angle it in on one side and rotate to get clearance Clarence? .... or are the screws right where the rails are so you can't get past them? A pic would be great but I know you don't have those privileges yet .... Edited January 7 by jeffs
BobTFM35 1,623
The width between the inside edges of the mounting posts must be at least 17.75 in. (45.1 cm) to comply to EIA standards. I think when you get a combination of 6 reactions of , thank you, love this or That rocks and you progress to Novice status you should be able to post pictures. I going to take a guess that your color is the darker of the two. For your C1, do you know if they are the original screws? I might be inclined to find a screw head that is flatter than the ones on the sides causing the interference. This way you will be able to move it up or down in the rack without grinding. 2
jeffs 2,604
you might need cap head screws (hex drive)? The heads are smaller in diameter. I've made this work in the past but no longer have that setup. My custom rack rails inside is 17 7/8". Edited January 8 by jeffs
