JoNo2025 11 Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Hello everyone I’m new to Carver ownership. I recently purchased a Carver 900 Amp and I’m hoping to get some help to make it sound great. Thanks in advance! 7
Community Admin AndrewJohn 10,459 Posted February 19 Community Admin Posted February 19 Welcome @JoNo2025, so glad you found us. Use SEARCH (top right of home page) to search for threads on your receiver. Also, peruse the receiver threads in the receiver repair forums (scroll down on home page to the indexed forum groups). Lots of historical data here that will overwhelm you with information on things to look out for, refresh ideas, processes, etc..., pick and choose to learn based on your incoming electronics skill level. Having said that, If over your head, consider sending the receiver to a tech for professional refresh and adjustment. It's easy to accidentally change a working receiver or amp into a boat anchor if one doesn't know what they are doing. 1
BobTFM35 2,767 Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Welcome to the Carver Site!! I think there are three Carver models of amp that have 900 in its name One is the CA 900, the PM 900, and the PXM 900. The site has an owner's manual for only the PM and PXM model. The PM900 is the only model that we have a service manual. Carver Manuals - TheCarversite! 1
JoNo2025 11 Posted February 19 Author Posted February 19 Thank you both for the responses and information. My amp actually works well but I’m hoping to figure out what speaker and (maybe) pre-amp combos I could use to optimize the sound. I’m currently using the internal pre-amp and the phono sound is a little muddy. It sounds GREAT with CDs though. Just wondering what people are using in combo with their 900s 2
BobTFM35 2,767 Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Is this sim to the unit that you are talking about? 1
