THammond 8 Posted yesterday at 03:37 PM Posted yesterday at 03:37 PM I hope I did this right by starting a New Topic to introduce myself. I have a Carver 4000 pre-amp that my late husband and I have owned since approx 1983. He had kept it in condition and has sent it in for repairs at least once over those years. Now I have an issue with the power switch (button) and need some input and direction on how to fix it or get it fixed. I look forward to the expertise on this site. I miss listening to our album collection since the power switch went bad. Thanks, Teresa 6 1
Sk1Bum 11,418 Posted yesterday at 07:25 PM Posted yesterday at 07:25 PM Hello Teresa, and welcome to thecarversite.com! Glad you found us. You did great with your introduction, and I'm sorry for your loss. I am certainly not a tech, but I would contact @Nahash5150, the head technical guru here. He also has his business website at https://nelionaudio.com/. He can hook you up. They're located in Michigan. I use a Carver 4000t preamp in my main stereo rig, and I love it. I hope you get your pre-amp going again. What other gear do you have? Again, welcome! 1
Community Admin AndrewJohn 10,466 Posted 23 hours ago Community Admin Posted 23 hours ago Welcome to the site Teresa @THammond. Glad you found us. Are you technically savvy at all? My intent is to learn if the help you seek is to find a tech, or to get in there and be the tech. We got both kinds of new members here. The safest is to work with Nelion, as already suggested - that requires sending the preamp to them. OTOH, a power switch going bad is something that a good local tech *might* also be able to source and repair for you if that is all your preamp needs.
Half Life 625 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Welcome Teresa! Enjoy your stay! Plenty of folks here that can offer good advice on how to approach a project such as yours. You definitely can't go wrong with Nelion. I've sent a couple of pieces to Greg and Jenny for repair/restoration. Absolutely top notch work!
THammond 8 Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago Thank you all for your responses. Nope, not tech savy in this area........I do appreciate the information on Nelion. I will probably go that way. I wondered around the site a little and will do so some more. I love the Carver and really want it working again. Thanks, Teresa 1
