  1. Blending traditions. My wife is from NM. Christmas Eve is simple--some nice T-bones w/ Bearnaise (my wife is under weight), sweet potatoes, and an over-the-top red. Christmas Day will be pan de huevo for breakfast. Dinner will be red tamales, a chile verde stew, pintos, salad, a Rioja, and pecan pie. Not making the tamales--that takes a big family to do a proper assembly line. The diet resumes on Boxing Day. Merry Christmas to all!
  2. Rod, thank you for taking this responsibility. Seriously.^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h seriously.

    First Ride

1969 MG-B roadster w/ wire wheels. I pretty much learned to drive a stick when I brought it home. It was dusk, and the buddy that took me to get it started tailgating. It turned out there was a cop behind him, and my taillights had gone out (and the plates were borrowed from another car).
  4. On my phone, the first one is in a window, shorter than the pic, that scrolls.
  5. Thank you for taking on this responsibility, Wayne!
  6. That was one of the best performances I have ever seen/heard anywhere of any song and it was on TV. I wish I could have seen that live. I watch it on youtube all the time. It's amazing!!! I would love to know if it is available somewhere on CD or vinyl (pipe dream). I think I have that whole program on the uverse dvr, from Palladia (now MTVlive). It should be available, but I have not found it online. The song, at least, is on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B59OY48/175-9704382-5008339?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0
  7. [EDIT--the more I think about this, the "solution" below doesn't make sense if the receiver displays "DD", unless DD can be 2-channel digital. My Pioneer receiver has all kinds of modes it displays, some being its version of sonic holography. I do remember solving that exact problem, though. Will have to explore receiver setup tomorrow. But it still might be worth a look at the Dish box setup.] A lot of times TV dialog is mainly in the center channel. Commercials are often stereo. I have had that same problem, where it wants to only output to the mains. Seems like it happened when we switched from Charter to Uverse, had to set the Uverse box. Options: Audio/Language: Digital: Surround (i.e. not Stereo). But I don't recall the receiver saying it was in surround mode. Had a similar problem when we bought a Visio TV (old Sony CRT finally shot craps). As shipped from the factory there was no sound at all, was ready to take it back until I started messing w/ settings. Had to set the TV up to think it had a sound bar, although it only had internal speakers.
  8. Wow, OTD, you know the area well. I'll be in Cruces end of the month, visiting LOML's family. We fly into ELP. If you play golf there, two things to remember: there is one hell of a big sand trap wear a hat
  9. Come on, guys. Show her this and she won't even let him hang out here any more--a bad influence. Chiro, if you really want to show you love her, you could get rid of the floorstanders and mount those itty bitty Bose cubes on the walls; Sam's Club should still carry them. You might have to wear a V-collar when you listen, though, to catch the blood that's running from your ears before it stains her furniture. As Bugs Henderson used to say, "All in good fun!"
  10. If you read Rich's posts over the past few years, there has been a fair amount of foreshadowing. Thank you, Rich. I will continue to hope and pray for the best.
  11. Serious issues deserve serious, respectful, discussion. The acid test for whether to post should be, "is this respectful?" A sense of humor can mitigate the tendency toward invective.
