  1. I have a bit. When the classic SB kept failing to play consistantly after playing a track for a few seconds I did some reading to find others having this issue. I got a duet from eBay and I'm now experiencing the same problem although I started from scratch re-installing the software etc. etc. Perhaps I should dig into this a bit more. I tend to have limited patience for these things...
  2. The hoplessly obsure Hosemobile in their only known video. This needs to be seen if for no other reason than what happens 20 seconds in...
  3. Saw Annie Haslam and Co. a couple of months ago and she still sings beautifully.
  4. Speaking of Randy Bachman & Co. did you see this recent reunion?
  5. Can you tell us why you weren't impressed or what issues you might have had with it?
  6. Yes the transporter is the HQ audiophile version. Nice. I started with the classic before Logitech took over and slowly destroyed everything. What a great company it was - call them and you actually get an engineer on the line to help you. Anyway, I got a second SB a Duet, both worked find but then I had troubles with the classic and got another duet via ebay. Now one of the duets is crapping out - sometime works sometimes not. The software on my Ipad and Iphone is also buggy and annoying, I don't bother with the duet remote as it is so inferior to the phone/pad interfaces. Maybe some of the issue is with my WiFi network, but I doubt it. My DVD player works fine streaming movies from the internet at the same location as the duet which is plugged into my main rig. It's quite frustrating.
  7. Thanks. That's what I was thinking, maybe I'll roll the dice and give it a try since I can seem to solve my Squeezebox problems (that's what she said).
  8. Maybe I missed something, but I'm talking about the Polk Omni P1 and what the USB port can be used for...
  9. This might be a good solution for me. I've been using Squeezeboxes but it is just not reliable and is unsupported. I noticed there is a "USB port for firmware updates and phone charging", but ideally I'd like to hook up a hard drive with all my audio files and eliminate the wireless issues I might be having. Somebody asked this question on Amazon: "Question: What does the usb socket do on this device? can i hook up an HD loaded with music from my library directly to the system? Answer: Yes, you can as long as the device is recognizable by the Android and Apple IOS software drivers. Just remember all your control is done thru your devices such tablets and smartphone. By Amazon Customer on April 25, 2017 Yes, that should be possible. By WORLD WIDE STEREO SELLER on April 27, 2017" What is the REAL answer? Also is the app good? Can I see album artwork, play random, search etc. Does it read all the tags on FLAC files? Thanks.
  10. You're really digging out some old all-time faves this morning Charlie! So mining a similar vein: When I was a kid we used to take the long drive in the summer from MD to Tennessee to visit my grandfather's farm (sadly now sold-off). I can very clearly remember listening to Sunshine of My Life, Give me Love, Kodachrome and a lot of these on the radio. Those were the days.
  11. That must have been a very good year! ?
  12. Wow Charlie - you sure dig up some blasts from the past stuff I have forgotten about for like 40 years. God damn I'm getting old...
  13. Let it be known Charlie that my "thumbs up" on your post does not indicate in any way my approval or acceptance of the suits these gentlemen are wearing!
  14. Saw them at Blues Alley in DC a few weeks ago and it was an excellent show!
  15. This. I rip all my CDs using Exact Audio Copy (EAC) and even some vinyl (and in one case a cassette tape) never re-issued on CD which I clean up and de-click, but no longer have time for that these days. I have all this in a 3 TB disk drive about 80% full and backed up regularly. I calculated at one point if I listened to my collection 8-hours a day it would take something like 20 years to listen to everything once. I play this music through the now discontinued Squeezebox one of which I recently got on Ebay - works great for me. I love to just put it on "random song" and see what comes up and discover something new.
  16. Charlie you seem to be stuck in the 60's which as far as I'm concerned is a good thing! ?
  17. ... and the original by the late great Judy Sill: ???
  18. Ah yes I remember Dream On blasting on the radio and us little snots bobbing our heads - an inspirational song for an adolescent, no doubt. On a altogether different vibe I can so clearly recall a friend of mine getting this album sitting down holding the gate fold cover and listening to this monster for the first time. I can recall the feeling and wonder it invoked it me. The reverberations never stopped. YMMV of course but I'd be interested to know if this hit anyone else like a ton of bricks back in the day.
