Golden Earring Great song to play on the bass

My copies of "I Robot" and "Wish you were here" on SACD just showed up. After a quick listen of both I am impressed. Need more time to really go through them and dig into the music. I am already very familiar with both so this should be a treat to find new details buried in the recordings. A friend of mine has the Rhino release of "Brain Salad Surgery" 5.1 min on SACD which I have been trying to find. Can't wait for that either. It's supposed to be one of the best 5.1 engineering efforts. I'm sure "Karn Evil 9" is going to cause major eargasms. I was listening to "Best of Bread" the other day and was impressed with the engineering on that, happy to see Mobile Fidelity also has an SACD of their "Baby I'm a want you".

I raised this question in another thread and thought it worthy of it's own.. It's great to get a collection of audiophiles together and discuss what systems we have and what we have done and so one, but what sources do you find are best. I don't mean that just in terms of Vinyl vs CD vs SACD vs Pure Audio. But, out of that non exhaustive list, what have you listened too that really stood out as a well engineered and recorded "album"? Physical or streaming. . . . Last night I listened to Pink Floyd's Dark Side on the Moon on SACD and the 5.1 mix. Room lights where off and I was pretty much center stage. Did this mostly as I just put a Cinema Grand Sig 400-5 into service. Heard things I had swore where not there before, couple of times I backed up and listened to a section again. This is one album I thought I knew from all angles. Truly amazed. Ordered "Wish you were here" on SACD 5.1 for good measure and can't wait for that to show up. I also listened to "Tales of Mystery and Imagination" on Blue-ray Pure Audio. Just a STUNNING rendition of APP's first album. Really wish or hope Mr. Parsons goes on to do the same to Pyramids and I Robot. I also ordered "I Robot" on SACD, really looking forward to that. I might add some that I just thought were terrible. So what stands out in your collection as noteworthy recordings?

I wish more of these Pure Audio disks were made. Seems to be another dead'ish format. I just got the Alan Parsons Project "Tales of mystery and imagination". Full 5.1 remaster by Alan himself. Sounds amazing and I want more.....

Well then the path is clear Had mine since '97 and have put 100K miles on her. Each one a blast.. One of the most reliable cars I have ever owned. Only let me down twice and they were really my fault. No complaints.

Good eye! She is my '88 928 S4 . Still a blast to drive!

Yea I have been looking around but want a particular shade of red and also weight of the curtain. The carpet will also change to something darker. Lowe's actually has "Home Theater" carpet.

Been listening to "Tales of Mystery and Imagination" by the Alan Parsons Project. This was their first effort and one of their best, in my humble opinion, followed very closely by "I Robot" Picked up the Pure Audio Version remastered by the man himself. "Fall of the House of Usher" is just amazing in 5.1!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaV7py_LYAY

I have replaced all the cables with brand new ones, so not that. I agree, to me sounds like a cap discharge. I do plan on doing a "re-cap" at some point, but for the near term I am just going to enjoy it

Hey All, New user here. I just picked up a Cinema Grand Signature 400-5 a few days ago to add to my current 7.1 system. I have been idly looking for a Carver / Sunfire power amp and just happened to come across this unit at my local HiFi store as a trade in. Needless to say I walked out the door with it. Beautiful sounding amp, but I have some minor issues with it that I need to sort out. On power off, and I mean complete power removal, I get a squeal through the front right. Doubt it is anything major but something to look into. My Current system: Fronts : Klipsch RP-280F Center: Klipsch RP-440C Surround: Klipsch RP-250S Rear: Acoustic Energy A107. Soon to be replaced with Klipsch RP-160 Sub: Acoustic Research 12". Don't laugh at that one.. Needs to go as well. Projector: Epson, I forget the #, 1080P. Screen: 125" Onkyo TX-NR717 driving the Sunfire Cinema Grand Sig 400-5. It's also driving the 2 rear speakers. Sony Blu ray, Amazon FireTV and other various bits of audio gear. All this in a dedicated theater room that seats 8. I have found information somewhat difficult to come by on this model, so hope I am in the right place Cheers!! Nick Tucker
