ghlenz 11 Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Hello everyone. I am happy I found this site, as it appears to be a great resource. I recently acquired a couple pieces of Carver gear after being a fan for 40 years. I am a 56 year old guy that used to read Stereo Review in high school and college and always admired Carver gear but for many reasons over the years never owned anything. Well, recently I became interested in Vintage HiFi and decided that mid-70s Pioneers and the like were too expensive. And since they preceded my favorite era (80s' and 90's) they may not be for me. As a result I decided to look into the classic Carver scene since I always wanted some of this gear anyway. Started by buying a couple receivers: HR-742 MXR-130 These pieces have really gotten me back into the 2 channel music scene. Thanks for putting together and providing such a great resource here. Sk1Bum 10,873 Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Hello Greg and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us. The MXR-130 is popular here, and there are quite a few threads regarding it and other Carver receivers. Once you get to Novice status, please consider uploading some pics of your gear, systems in the Members Systems area. We all like pics of all kinds of stereo and home theater gear.
Community Admin AndrewJohn 9,914 Posted March 27 Community Admin Posted March 27 Welcome @ghlenz, glad you found us. FWIW, you're still a baby..., A lot of us here have 10 years on you ... LoL. This is a great resource, and if you don't have it, you will soon catch OCCD (obsessive carver collecting disorder...) Thos old receivers don't have anything to compare with what you'll have with a Carver setup, like a C-1 preamp, an m4.0t amplifier, and a pair of Amazing open baffle speakers... 😉 Again, welcome, and glad you found us!
