Hello all, I have been enjoying the sounds of my TFM 35 since 1993, replaced the lights a few times, gave up after that... didn't really need them. I have had the Carver powering my JBL L7's for the past 30 years and always loved the sound. Well the other day the Carver started to make a lot of static through both speakers. Seems it's kinda toasted, anybody know if it is worth it to repair. Cheers!

First and foremost, welcome to the site!  Glad to have you here!

Secondly, your TFM-35 is most definitely worth the repair.  Look, it lasted 30 and brought you hours of listening pleasure.  Get with Nelion (@Nahash5150).  Greg can bring that thing back to life for you.

Welcome! I'd definitely consider it worth repairing.

Two good service options for Carver gear include Nelion Audio as @Half Life mentioned (https://nelionaudio.com) and Carver Audio Repair (https://carveraudiorepair.com). Both of these shops are very well versed in Carver & Sunfire gear. And while they are at it, they can give you a long-term fix for the lights, too!

Welcome to the forum. My first thought would be a dirty input level potentiometer. You could try spraying the pot with some fader lube and rotating the input level knob several times.  See if that gets rid of the static.

A problem in both channels simultaneously really cuts out a lot of potential issues, and pretty much points straight at the power supply, where an old cap that is failing can cause this . . .

I use my SS TFM 35 for rock and fusion and my 275 tube amp for vocals, piano, string music and i love them both.
