Hello fellow Carver enthustiasts!

I am an avid Carver enthusiast new to the site. I'm happy to be here and can't wait to dig into other enthustiast stories.

I am the original owner of a Carver M1.5t amp and C-1 preamp. I purchased them new in the late 80's when I was stationed in Germany during my Air Force enlistment.

I'm in the process of renewing/refurbishing my vintage audio system. It was fully functional until about 1995, when a mischievous puppy chewed through all the cables behind the equipment rack. I put the system in the corner of a closet and it's been sitting there ever since.

Here is my system:

Amp - Carver M1.5t

Preamp - Carver C-1

CD Player - Yamaha CDX-900U

Cassette Deck - Teac R-919X

Reel to Reel - Teac X1000R

Audio Processor - dbx 120x-DS

Audio Processor - Pioneer SR-60

Speakers - Cerwin Vega CD-90

I am on the look-out for a Carver tuner.

I have scheduled restoration/upgrades for the M1.5t and C-1 with Nelion Audio. I look forward to hearing the system again.

Thanks for reading!

Hello Aaron and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us!

Nice set of gear you have there, and a very wise choice to choose Nelion Audio for your restorations. @Nahash5150does excellent work. You won't be disappointed.

What tuner are you looking for? I have a TX-11 and a TX-11a that I would consider parting with. I've not hooked either up for a while, so if you're interested, I'd have to hook them up to make sure they're still fully functional.

Hello and thank you for the warm welcome. I would be interested in the TX-11a if you want to part with it. Can you share more information on the condition?

Condition is at least very good, includes the the rack handles. Reception is excellent using a di-pole hung on a wall. The LED meters are buried on all local stations, including a local low power (100w) blues station. It's on the bottom of a stack in my bedroom, so I'll have to tear down the stack to see the condition of the top. I'll get that done today or tomorrow.

Here's what a few are listed for on ebay:

@aaron1anderson, welcome to the site.

Just a bit more info on tuners..., as you make your choice.  What Sk1bum offers is a great option.

The TX-11a is more desirable over the TX-11 - they are more different internally, than just "one has AM, the other does not."  The TX-11a has AM, and FM, and is considerably better electronics.

Both the TX-11 and TX-11a have silver faceplates.  If you want a black faceplate - the TX-11b is one step above the TX-11a (it was considered top of the line over the TX-11a, AND it had a black faceplate to match the black faceplate amps of the same era).

Alternatively, the final production Carver tuner was the TX-12.  It has a black faceplate, and looks different with an analog signal strength meter (over the LED strength meters in the TX-11 and TX-11a.  AND, for my liking, the TX-12 has a remote control.

Very late in production from Carver Corp came the TX-8 and TX-8r, significantly miniaturized and in the "slim-line" format chassis.  The only difference between these two is that the TX-8r has a remote control, the other does not.

The manuals with pictures of these models are in theCarverSite manuals library in the menu at the top to get more specifics as you choose a tuner.  I have had every one of these tuners, and have settled on the TX-11b for my liking in my black faceplate stack, and a tx-11a for my silver-faced stack of gear.  I would like to pick up a TX-12 again, I regret selling that one. ;-/

Again, welcome to TheCarverSite.

Thanks for the extensive run down on tuners, @AndrewJohn! I really appreciate the information as I am totally new to tuners. I am buying the tx-11a from @Sk1Bum. All my Carver gear is the silver-grey color.
