  1. I'm not good at social media and didn't update you guys with my new bike - spoiler, I didn't get the Anthracite (sad face). But I have a blood red\maroon fade that's pretty cool. As I said above, it is a 2018 Domane SL8. I was delivered last July, I got about a 1K mikes on it before winter hit. It is themed off of "Smaug" from Lord of the Rings. You'll see several touches for that effect, LOL. The bike is named Smaug, although the text on the bike is elvish, so you can't really read it. It's a fun bike but still evolving, for example, I just put a set of aerobars on it, and some Garmin attachments.

Just a couple of photos from my C-1 BillD that I did in 2017
  4. I certainly understand what you're saying. I haven't reached your age yet but I've also thought about making a similar list. We have simply too much gear to just let it be sold off by people who don't know what it's worth. Obviously, we need to put the mods and assumed value in the list. Good luck to all of us. Good job on being proactive.
  5. Kev, that's not a problem. I have several old Android phones in a drawer. They work just fine and you can do everything on them except call\text (well, actually you can text now with apps via wifi). Well, I guess one has a busted screen but it still works perfectly - then I have a Samsung S4 with a nice tough, Otterbox case and I have a Samsung S5 that's in perfect shape, looks brand new (it wasn't used for but about a month). UPDATE - I tested the S5, I fired it up, installed FLIR app from Google Play (like I said, with Wifi, you can still access the store and install anything you want) - plugged in the FLIR camera and bam! - worked exactly as you would expect. Heh, so there's a solution.
  6. Merry Christmas fellers and families. We also got some snow, just in time - Christmas here just isn't right without snow - it's a good day.
  7. Hiyas guys ~ Back in March, I purchased a FLIR One (Gen 2) for my Android phone. I didn't use it too much at first, and promptly lost it within 6 weeks of buying it. There are some images from that camera in one of my C-1 BillD mod threads at http://thecarversite.com/yetanotherforum/default.aspx?g=posts&m=300386#post300386 I rarely lose anything, I knew I had misplaced it. I looked and looked and couldn't find it. Finally, just last week I bought a new FLIR One Pro 3rd gen and I have it here now. Karma strikes and yesterday I FOUND the first FLIR, it had fallen behind a cabinet in the bathroom, where I put clothes and apparently when undressing, I had taken it out of a pocket and placed on top the cabinet... So here's the deal - I do want to keep the new one, I hate sending things back and it has the correct connector for my new phone. The Gen2 has a USB-C connector and still works fine. The thing I like about the FLIR's are that they actually have two cameras and they combine a normal visual image with the infrared image. I tried another thermal camera called SEEK and it doesn't do that and I didn't like it. When the images are combined, you can more easily see what you're looking at as you can see in the images. I found the Gen2 yesterday and took some pics with it this morning with my old phone and of course, it works just fine. Here's the pics - one with a chair above the heat vent and window (it's 17° outside - notice how the shade makes a big difference in keeping cold from coming in via the window) and the second one with bathtub filled with warm\hot water. Those are two outside walls and the image clearly shows the lack of a good joint, cold spot, I already knew about that. (As a side note, notice the dark spot on the floor in front of the tub - crap, that's indicative of a leak! I need to goto the basement and see what's going on!) Sorry, I tend to be long winded. Well, anyone still reading must be interested. I need a small amp, anthracite and ideally with handles. I don't need huge power - but something to match the C-1 and DTL-200 I have. I did purchase a busted m0.5t amp that I thought I'd repair but that's a fail so far, and not sure I'll ever make it work. So, if you're interested, post up what you have. So, I think this is an option. I'll pay for shipping of course, as long as it's reasonable. The FLIR was in the case the whole time behind the cabinet and the case is unmarred as well.
  8. Hey jidnei, that looks sweeeeet! Man, I'm gonna have to test ride a fat bike, people won't stop telling me how nice they are - and sounds like once you get the wheels turning, it's not so bad? I think a few guys around here with fat bikes are a bit bummed, we've had zero snow so far this year. What's that Sturgis Bullet gonna weigh in at? I can't quite see - SRAM in the rear?
  9. That's all amazing. Everything - the units, the work, the enclosure. Very Impressive.
  10. Jim, Looks like you are in the Trek world as well. I thought about a Madone but have test ridden both and really like the front\read vibration dampening on the Domane SL®6(8). And I already have the nice lightweight Emoda and man, is that a hill climber. I'm weighing in a about 125lbs, and with the 16lb stiff Emonda, I do really well on the small hills we have here in Iowa - and the acceleration is fantastic. So, the next will be a Domane and ya, I might get the Di2. It's been out long enough, it has enough history for me to be confident it won't be failing in a few years. I'm not crazy about extra batteries but I guess thats just part of the package. I have several friends who are practically demanding that I try\buy a fat bike. I'm resisting, but it sure looks like a fun, versatile ride. That would sure extend the riding season, for sure. I also have a gravel bike but it doesn't fit me as well and I mostly use it for commuting and errands. Good luck with the new fat bike! Come back and show us some pics too, I want to see.
  11. Yup, crazy prices, I hesitate to tell non-cyclists how much I'll be paying for the new bike. I've "tested" with a few bike clubs, but as an older rider, I find too much testosterone which does lead to jostling and crashing - I've see it and an certainly not interesting in that. I live in Iowa and so have done muliple RAGBRAI's and that's enough excitement in a crowd - good lord, what a crowd!
  12. And I think that's great, Chops, for many years I was the same. But I saw specific and critical services and polices that I had taken for granted removed, shut down. I saw things that I thought I'd just ignore affect my life in huge ways. I didn't like it, and the more I watched how decisions were made, the angrier I got. But you have a great point - there has to be a balance. And some people, like myself, don't handle it well. I'm not sure what the solution is.
  13. Huh, well darn. G-Drive does say "share" and "anyone can view" but maybe that doesn't mean download. It's just an MP3. I generated a link again, and I'll go read to see if download is possible. I used to have a website that I put these things on, but don't have that anymore. New Link: (it does look diff, has "sharing" at the end of link) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iZe9W3PKSP-Hq8yBhm03OZVtJepnVatQ/view?usp=sharing
