  6. Thanks everyone one more set for the collection REGARDS SNOW
  7. Thanks I really like these they play quite a bit lower than either my JBL-L200T3's or my Altec valencia's do I believe both of them play to around 50hz or so but these play down to around 25hz or so without strain and have a very full sound with a wide soundstage. I truly did not expect much from these to be truthful. REGARDS SNOW
  8. Ok I went and listened to several sets of speakers and wound up liking the Pioneer TZ-F700's the best of them all believe it or not so they came home with me today, I was a bit surprised actually, I thought the Legacy classics would be better and all'though they were nice sounding these Pioneers are just a bit better not by leaps and bounds but noticeable. Here is a quick pic of them. REGARDS SNOW
  9. Well I went and looked at the Pioneers today and a few others he was willing to part with, he had some Legacy Classics a pair of Pioneer HPM-150's a pair of JBL-L7's some Paradigm P90 floor standers and of course the TZ-F700's. He is currently using some huge VMPS towers they have to be over 6 feet tall driven by an Onkyo amp with huge meters, he is going to stop by my house Sunday and look and listen and we will see if we can do some trading perhaps so I will dig out some things and see what happens, I could not hear any ringing or buzzing like what was mentioned in the Stereophile review perhaps it was an early run anamoly? or something who knows. 10. I should take some pics it would amaze you, honestly he has rooms that are from the floor to the ceiling of nothing but music, the last time I was in the there in the basement he had most likely at least 75 amps of all brands some Carver stuff too, speakers I had never seen before big Marantz ones that are the size of freezers all kinds of JBL's Polk SDA's some huge Infinity towers and on and on. Thanks Gene I hope so too, if nothing else it will be a fun trip just to see and listen to some different gear. REGARDS SNOW
  11. Thanks guys and yes I will get to listen to them first, it turns out that the guy who has these I know him and have bought from before. He is always getting new/different gear in but little leaves It turns out I was incorrect saying they were 3 ways they are actually 4 way speakers. I have some things he wants so we may be able to do some trading. Believe it or not this fellow is a bigger hoarder than I am, he literally .has 4-5 rooms full of speakers of all kinds a basement full of amps preamps etc and a minimum of 50k CD's. He has 3 pair of these but only wants to keep 2 pair. REGARDS SNOW
  12. Believe it or not it is a 3 way speaker, what appears to be the only speaker is actually a midrange driver with the tweeter in the center and a 12" powered woofer facing the floor.
  13. Pioneer TZ-F700 speakers anyone here heard these? Supposedly they retailed for a whopping $3500.00 a pair back in the day I have a chance to pick up a pair for $450.00 locally .
  14. They look like a pioneer of some type, I was thinking HPM because of what appears to be a super tweeter. REGARDS SNOW
  15. Many of us lost post count a few months ago when Rich culled the archives. True I have down below 1k 3 or 4 times. I think he is at 200+ now again though. REGARDS SNOW
  16. All of these comments about Sony being a bad company recently may or may not be true but saying this in a thread asking about advice and opinions on a specific set of speakers is just pure thread crapping and is way out of line and helps no one. I am ashamed to see it here to be honest. Really if you have no knowledge of the speakers inquired about or have never read a review written someone who has owned or listened to them and compared them to other speakers please refrain from saying anything. You guys are better than this. For what it's worth I have not had much success with most Sony products either but that is really not helpful info in this case. I feel for both of you Dan and Reese for having problems but brand bashing is not constructive. REGARDS SNOW
  17. Well, that may apply to speakers/speaker parts -- but I have to say I was surprised when I sent in my Sony ES top of the line 5-disc CD player for repair to the Sony repair center due to defunct laser or tracking or something - and got it back with note that Sony could no longer repair it/provide the needed replacement parts! Top of their line model of a few years back in early 2000's and no way to repair it by factory-repair shop. They did fix the ES DAT player/recorder though. Go figure. Sad isnt it? almost all companies now no longer stock parts for longer than their warranty period as part of cost cutting measures, of course most electronics are so cheap to replace that it simply does not make fiiscal sense to do so. Electronic technology changing so fast and consumer desire to have the latest greatest toy has led to this. Why would a company want to stock parts for years to come for a $1500.00 CD player when 3 years down the road you can buy a CD player that has a better chip in it for less money than it costs the company to repair it? Most consumers will simply purchase another CD player for $49.95 that sounds better and they don't have to wait 3-4 months for the repair and the shipping costs. Computers are the same way now by the time a computer is worn out or needs repair 4-5 years down the road you can buy a much better performing one for less than the costs to repair the old one. Speakers for the most part have not advanced that much and the drivers are usually made by OEM suppliers like Peerless that supplied the drivers for the Sony speakers which they still have plenty of in stock.
