  1. Welcome from Virginia! Enjoy your stay!
  2. RIP Chuck. Always remember the classic fight scene between Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee. The best!
  3. Welcome from Virginia! Enjoy your stay! You've described the typical journey of a critical listener; amps, pre's, speakers, room treatments and so on. I dare say that pretty much all of us have gone through it. Bob Carver equipment was always out of my price range from my teens and into my 20's-30's but now get to enjoy them. I have several pieces from Bob's Carver and Sunfire line. My main setup is a C-1 (BillD mod & Gundry filter), M-1.0t (mkII opt002) and a pair of MartinLogan Foundation Motion towers (not ESL). The sounds coming from that setup are ridiculous! Other setup is C-1, Crimson 275 connected to Magnepan MG-1's. Not the power of the main system but buttery smooth. Glad to have you here!
  4. Welcome from Virginia! Enjoy your stay! What kind of Carver Gear did you pick up?

  7. Welcome from Virginia! Enjoy your stay! Nice system you have there! And congrats on your recent retirement!
  8. Welcome from Virginia! Enjoy your stay! I had Greg at Nelion restore a M1.0t and a C-1. Huge different for the before and after. I run them with a pair of MartinLogan Motion Foundation F1 speakers. Love the clean sound!

  10. Welcome from Virginia! Enjoy your stay! @Sk1Bum is correct. Greg at Nelion is damn good at what he does. He knows the Bob Carver stuff like the back of his hand. He's fixed a couple of pieces for me. Excellent work!

  13. Welcome from Virginia! Enjoy your stay! I recently finished restoring 2 MXR-900 receivers for my two oldest granddaughters (both 12). Gave them as Christmas gifts. I agree with @Kurt, they are really nice receivers.
  14. Welcome to theCarverSite! We have the Owners Manual in our Library. You can find it in the Manuals and Specsheets section above. Once that page is open you'll see a spreadsheet with tabs along the bottom for the various Bob Carver gear. Select the Sunfire tab and scroll to near the bottom and you'll find the Owners Manual. Unfortunately, most Sunfire schematics are not found in the wild. Your unit should have a 6.25 Slo-Blo fuse in it. If it's blowing instantly when turning on, it could be bad output transistors, bad capacitors, bad rectifiers. There are some You-tube vides that describe the problem you're having, if you're comfortable testing and fixing it yourself. If not, you may wish to have it repaired by Greg at Nelion. He knows Bob Carver gear inside and out and does great work. Good luck!

  21. Welcome from Virginia! Enjoy your stay! Good advice above. Best thing to tell you is to be patient as deals do come up from time to time on the sites that @Sk1Bum mentioned. I too highly recommend Greg, @Nahash5150, at Nelion. He's restored a couple of pieces of Carver gear for me and I couldn't be happier. Outstanding work. Best of luck in finding the Carver gear you're looking for. You may also want to consider some of Bob Carver's Sunfire line. Some really good equipment there too.
  22. @AndrewJohn meet @Sk1Bum. Perhaps a deal could be made? Just sayin'.
  23. I'll try to dig some more. I'll see if an AI, like ChatGPT can help narrow this down a bit.
  24. Did some digging and came up with two possibilities of what you may have read back then. Not sure if either of these are what you remember but they may be close. https://www.worldradiohistory.com/Archive-All-Audio/Archive-Audio/80s/Audio-1982-03.pdf Bob Carver’s “Sonic Holography” article — Audio magazine (March 1982) pages 26-35 https://www.worldradiohistory.com/Archive-Radio-Electronics/80s/1982/Radio-Electronics-1982-06.pdf “Build Your Own Stereo Image Expander” — Radio-Electronics (June 1982) pages 45-48
