  1. Welcome from Virginia! Enjoy your stay!
  2. Progress! Definitely let us know what you find. Nicely done!
  3. Take all this with a grain of salt as I've never worked on anything by Sunfire (yet). Lots of speculation here from looking at the pic you posted. First, note there isn't a readily identifiable logo (I don't believe the M02 inside the circle is an actual logo). I compared it to known IC chip logos, including the JEDEC database of manufacturers - no match. The other markings could be just "house codes" like factory, date, batch, etc. I do not believe that Sunfire actually made any of their own IC's and this is likely a custom for Sunfire. It could be a PIC (controlling auto on/off, muting, etc.). However a PIC in this instance would be overkill. It could be a simple ASIC, controlling those same functions (more likely); ASIC's would be a lower cost at volume part for something like this. To narrow this down a bit, you'd have to do some circuit level sleuthing. You'd need to map out the pins and surrounding circuitry, taking note of signals/voltages on the pins of the device. From there you should be able to make an educated guess as to what it "might" be. Again, all of this is pure speculation. I have absolutely no experience or knowledge of Sunfire circuits. However, I do have experience in reverse engineering circuits containing unknown/obsolete parts. What I described above is how I would tackle this if I were working on it. Good luck!
  4. Welcome to The Carver Site! Enjoy your stay! As you may already know, the Sunfire schematics will be somewhat difficult to come by on the Interwebs. However, I'm sure there may be someone on here that has worked on these before and can assist.

  10. Welcome from VA! Enjoy your stay! I still own a Yamaha M 80 amp and a Yamaha C 60 pre-amp. Both have been repaired/restored and all of the dreaded Sony glue has been removed. That Sony glue was nasty stuff, causing all sorts of corrosion. From one Veteran (US Navy) to another Veteran, thank you for your service.
  11. Welcome from VA! Enjoy your stay! Like @AndrewJohn said, post a picture of the from of the unit and we'll get it identified for you.
  12. Hey Mit! Welcome from VA! Enjoy your stay! When you can, show us some pics of your setup.
  13. Since I only listen to Amazon Music in my shop (that's where the Wiim lives), I just choose Amazon Music as the source, set it as preset #1, and then just hit PLAY. After the music starts, I use the voice control button on the remote and tell Alexa to shuffle the music. I have somewhere near 1000 songs in that preset. It is quite rare for me to hear the same some more than once. The other feature I like is that Amazon Music will create a playlist based upon my listening habits, mostly B side stuff; but I like it. Sometime I'll choose that playlist to really change it up.
  14. Welcome fro0m VA! Enjoy your stay! I currently have a CT-27 (not being used too much lately), C-1 (BillD Mod and Gundry Filter) and a 4000t (waiting for an open spot on the workbench). I don't have any experience with the C-11, maybe someday. I really like the C-1; I have it paired to my M-1.0t (modified by Greg at Nelion). I'm hoping to refurb the 4000t soon so I can see how it compares to the C1. Good luck in your search!
  15. Welcome from VA! Enjoy your stay!
  16. Hey Rob, Couldn't these be 3D printed say using ABS or PEEK? Color-matching would be the difficult part. I could definitely print one no problem. I'd have to locate a set of the button, model then and print. Hmmm, sounds like a nice winter project. BTW, I got into 3D printing (additive manufacturing) many, many years ago because of my pinball machine restoration hobby. Lots of those parts are no longer made.

  21. Welcome from VA! Enjoy your stay! Nice lineup of equipment! Congrats on the retirement!
  22. Welcome from Virginia! Enjoy your stay. I visited Halifax during my Navy days in the early '80's. Beautiful place! You've got a good setup there; The TFM-35 and the C-11 pair well with the KEF's. I've always liked the sound of KEF speakers, never owned any but had a friend that rolled through a few different models..
  23. Looks like we all ride the same bandwagon - keep the 75's.
