    AR-90s

    Belvedere2 posted a topic in Loudspeakers

    Anybody have any experience with AR-90s? Checking out a pair tomm and looking for anything I should look out for. I've heard AR-9s before so I pretty much know what they sound like; planning on bringing my Led Zeppelin. Woofers and whatnot have been refoamed so I hope there shouldn't be any issues. Thanks!

    My Mom's been giving away tons of stuff. She's trying to purge her house as she calls it. Nope don't mind getting all her 70's Rock N Roll. Can't have enough Led Zeppelin!

    Yep couldn't agree more. I have Maggies and Bose 901s. Wouldn't get rid of either one and like both alot. Hoping to get a pair of AR-9s someday but won't replace the ones I already have. Somedays I just feel listening to one or the other.

    Thanks again. I'll have plenty of time to figure something out. I only use them now in nice weather. I can open the windows and listen to music outside.

    In that case crimp some spade lugs on the bare wire ends and you're golden. Thanks! Never did like that bare wire. I've used those before for automotive tasks but when it came to my speakers I never used em. Must be some brain malfunction.

    Tried the EQ. Traffic sounds all screwed up so thats a no go.

    The posts are just that; posts with a nut on top. Just wrap the wire around it and tighten the nut. Those adapters would work just wrap the wire but I'd like something more solid. I'll probably have to delve into them.

    Series vi. I'm just not in the mood to use a hammer to tap off the lid. I may have to do that. A rewire would be nice; always like to improve stuff. I did have the EQ on when I first used the Maggies. It was more of a "oh s**t" moment versus checking the sound. It did sound different when I turned it off so as long as it doesn't harm anything I may just try it out.

    Any easy way to use banana plugs on 901 posts? Some sort of screw on adapter maybe? The wires I use for my Maggies have banana plugs. It would be much easier to just be able to swap a single set of wires versus the two I have now. From the looks of the 901s it would be a pain to open them up to install binding posts. Thanks!
