Not sure why the original thread got locked but I wanted to report that after reading many reviews and a discussion with the ebay proprieter I purchased these:AKG K 701 K701 Open Back DynaMic Reference Headphones
Got them for a great price and they are not used but "new" to boot. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try them. I will be using my C-1 built in headphone amp initially and if I find I need to I will move onto another headphone amp in the future. Any suggestions there???
Not sure what forum this should have been posted in - mods please move as required.
I'm just beginning research on the purchase of headphones. $ is no object - haha yes it is I don't want to spend more than $200.00 on my initial purchase. What do you gentlemen use and what are the pros/cons for what is available? Is there a preferred type of headphone driver and if so what is it? Is there a place one can still audition these? Other than the cord, what do I lose if I go wireless?
Edit: Has anyone every seen or heard these? http://listen.dts.com/headphone-x
Thanks for your input and knowledge ...
Like some others here it boggles my mind that I could remember this (thanks for the thread).
Forgot to mention the first album ever purchased for me was Kansas - Leftoverture. I remember it like it was yesterday because after I opened it I did nothing else the rest of the day but play it over and over. After the presents were opened at my house we went to visit my grandmother. Unbeknownst to my parents I took the album along. When we got situated I asked my grandmother if I could play it. She of course was accommodating and later as many of my relatives began to complain, about the "noise" coming from the vintage stereo rather than Christmas music, my grandmother calmly told them all to be quiet the boy is enjoying Christmas! Thanks Mammy.
First LP : Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida
First 8 track : - don't remember
First cassette : don't remember
First Cd : Billy Joel's 52nd Street then a few months later The Hooters - Amore
From this forum "newbie" to another, welcome "a"-bored! The folks here are very knowledgable in addition to being helpful as well. I'm happy I found this site and plan on hanging around (as long as they'll let me). Hope you do to. Terry

I'm most happy listening to true classic rock (Stones, Zep, Aerosmith -old stuff) but I will put my ear to anything. Well, anything, but classical music - I guess I just have no taste.
