  1. Welcome to the show. Your OCCD appaars to be in full motion. Now that you have joined it will only get worse!!
  2. Welcome aboard! I am primarliy a 2 channel guy as well. I do have a HT setup that I dust off once in a while, when I decide to watch a movie (which is almost never). I have never heard a pair of the 901's but hear they are pretty high up on the rankings for the non Bose folks. Had a pair of 301 IV's back in the day, but that is far as I took it.. Anyhow, you will enjoy the wealth of information and helpful people on this site. Have fun!
  3. Welcome aboard! Yes, i think most of us here have parted with gear, either out of necessity or to move along to another piece of gear! I have had only a couple of pieces that I ever regret getting rid of, but the nice thing is, with the different venus for buying and selling on the good old interweb, there is always the chance of being able to find that piece that you had given up! I have been able to find several items that I've let go of and been able to replace. The only thing you can't get back is the satisfaction of being your original item.
  4. Welcome aboard. Sit down, buckle up, keep your hands and feet inside the ride at all times! Mostly, enjoy the ride! Many good things on this site and great folk!
  5. Welcome aboard @Johnny_Law. As stated above, you will definitely get hooked. Especially when you get them up and running and hear them! The proof is in the pudding. And there is so much gear to explore with Carver.
  6. Welcome aboard. I've wanted to go after the M4.0t was a unit I lusted after for a long time. But then I went down the TFM road, and eventaully the Sunfire route! Still may go after one in the future. Great group of people here. Have helped me with issues I have run across in the past. Always willing to help. That is what is so great about this site!
  7. Welcome to the site! Although it wasn't the HR-772 that lead me down the rabbit hole which ended up here, it was the first piece I ever bought. Used it for a while, then it had some troubles. Marriage, a couple of kids, decided to get it fixed at a local shop. Then it all started! Now I have four Carver systems in my house, well a mix of Carver and Sunfire gear! My son currently has my HR-772 while he is living away while going to college! Stll a power house of a receiver. Remote quit several years ago, but not really into remotes anyway, so not worth trying to rememdy (universal remote may work, but felt it wasn't a need on my behalf!) Enyoy the ride and the people you meet here during your audio journey!
  8. Welcome aboard! Can't wait to hear about your new journey as it unfolds. As you will find out soon enough, one piece of Carver gear leads to another, then another. Then yet again, another!
  9. Welcome aboard. Nice score at the Thrift store. I never find anything like that. You should be able to get the advice you need hear to bring it back up to snuff, if not even improve it! Great bunch of peaple on this site that are will ing to share their experience and knowledge to help those in need.
  10. Welcome aboard. This is the spot to get help and advice. The technolgical abilities of the members on this board go above and beyond anyones expectations!
  11. Welcome aboard! Fasten your seatbelts as your journey is just about to begin!
  12. Although I am a vinly nerd, I am listenting to Days of the New on CD! Love the musciality of this disc! Very well recorded. It is my go to on my workbench as well! Really pushes the envelope for tone and dynamics!
  13. Ratamahatta - I have all three of those recordings on vinyl. Awesome albums. All of them have varied dynamics, and all sound fantastic! Great recordings. Will put any system to the test.
  14. Welcome aboard! Great group of people to share your interests with! Enjoy your journey!
  15. Welcome aboard. Always find the rebuild threads to be some of the most interesting. Gives me a sanity check sometimes when I am working on something and I get stuck. I get to see that I am not the only one that has this happen! And that includes a lot of great members that have way more knowledge than I do! I love to see them apply their knowledge, share with others, and accept advise from anyone that feels like they can help! Great group you have latched onto! Enjoy.
  16. Welcome! I have always wanted to get my hands on one of the TFM-35's, but have had to jump above to the TFM-55 then to a TFM-45. The 55 needs to be rebuilt and the 45 I am in the beginning stages of recapping! My plan is to get my hands on one of each size of the TFM series and also the M series amps. I also have started to dabble in the Sunfire realm with two 300x2 amps. For preamps, I have a C-16 and a C-19. Would like to get my hands on a C-11 and a C-1 (to do a Bill D mod - once you've been navigating the site more - you'll understand!) and possibly a Sunfire Tube Pre. I haven't thought about grabbing any of th TFM-x series though. Kind of like the looks of the original TFM line vs the TFM-x line. I digress. Again, welcome aboard.
  17. Welcome aboard! So it has begun! The journey of your lifetime! At least as far as audio gear is concerned. Once I acquired this sickness, it has never been a burden. Always some piece of gear or music out there that cures all ills!
  18. Welcome aboard. And don't just think of this as a site for only Carver help! Many of the fine folks on here have knowledge of all kinds of gear. I find it amazing the amount of gear and experience on this forum. A lot of members have or currently have stuff that I have longed to listen to or own myself at one point in my journey! Something that only time and money can cure! Enjoy theh ride!
  19. This is also my test disc! I used this everytime I made progress on my C19 upgrade! I love this album! Definitely rocks the Vinyl Den main system (which unfortunately has been idle due to workload - both at work and at home!) A couple of my other favorites are Patricia Barber - Cafe Blue and Beck - Morning Phase. Both on vinyl. Very silent backgrounds and full of dynamic presence!
  20. Just watched an old favorite of mine. An old spaghetti western from Tonino Valerii and Sergio Leone: "My Name Is Nobody". Stars Terrence Hill and Henry Fonda. Not sure why I like it so much, but hey, it is what it is.
  21. Yeah, i figured as much. I will see if I can find the other links. Don't remember exactly where they were. If i run across them in my travels, I will record them so I can let you know. As far as the member, map, not a big deal if it isn't up to date. Was just looking out of curiosity. I think I have my information in there correctly, unless I need the "( )". You've done a great job with the site. Happy to be a member!
  22. Yeah. I ended up getting there. Was just trying to see who was local (somewhat to me) on the map. I see I don't appear on it, so not sure what the issue is with that. No worries. Nothing critical. Was just getting some dead links in general, but I believe they were created before the last go around of website updates.
