I've read comments from the analog or bust crowd calling HD Vinyl an abomination because the topographical mapping and laser inscription processing will be done in the digital domain.

Dam! I really didn't think of that. What if someone were to hold the laser VERY steady by hand and cut the grooves? THEN it would be analog, No?
