mwc951 7 Posted September 7 Posted September 7 New to the forum, my first foray into Bob Carver's gear. Recently got a stack of the last of the Phase Linear line. P 3800, DRS 400, T 5200 Seller had it posted for quite sometime, motivated seller, accepted my low ball offer. I want to have the pre and possibly the power amp gone over. Doing research on Hi-Tech Audio vs Nelion to determine who to use. 7
Daddyjt 9,647 Posted September 7 Posted September 7 I have worked on (and purchased) equipment that has been restored/refreshed by “other” techs, two pieces of which came with invoices. I will tell you flat out that not only were the prices WAY out of line, the actual work done did not align with the invoice. Greg at Nelion will do exactly what he claims, and at a fair price. Further, there is no tech currently that understands Bob’s designs better than Greg. 2
Sk1Bum 11,575 Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Hello mwc951 and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us. I have to second what Daddyjt said. There is no better tech than Greg at Nelion Audio. Congrats on the score, and we all love pics. Once you get to Novice status, please consider uploading pics in the Members Systems area. We all like pics of all kinds of stereo and home theater gear.

Community Admin AndrewJohn 10,507 Posted September 9 Community Admin Posted September 9 Welcome to The Carver Site, @mwc951. I wish I lived where you lived, anything Carver that hits FB MktPlc, Craigslist, or eBay here..., locally, gets bid through the roof... Sounds like you have an awesome good deal on a nice setup. You will love it. I'll also second what @Daddyjt, said. I've seen several invoices of other "Carver" techs, some claiming "authorized" status..., and they surprise the heck out of me in terms of unclear work, unclear parts for what purpose, etc. etc. Skip the riff-raff, and go directly to Nelion Audio. Greg's contact info is on the www.NelionAudio.com website. Give him a phone call, he spends the time with you on the phone to ensure you understand what he can do for you, and what you can expect audio-wise out of your gear. Always cool to have a new member..., When you get a chance, please post a picture in the Member's Systems of your gear - before or after you get it back from being serviced! 😉 We love pictures 1
