Sk1Bum 13,157 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Hello watchdog005 and welcome to thecarversite.com. Glad you found us! I also have a set of NHT 3.3s. I think there are 2 others that currently have them, and a couple more that have had them in the past. They're great speakers. What's the rest of your system like? Once you get to Novice status, please consider uploading pics of your gear in the Members Systems area. We all love pics of all kinds of stereo and home theater gear. 1
watchdog005 17 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm driving the 3.3 with the Creek Destiny integrated amplifier and alternating with my Adcom GFP 750 preamplifier and Aragon 8008bb amplifier. Sources Luxman t-117 tuner, Conrad Johnson SD-22 CD player, OPPO UDP-203 Bluray, Technics SL-B2 and 1300 turntables, Audio Engine Bluetooth wireless DAC. 3
watchdog005 17 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 I also have 4 Sunfire Carver Signature 2700 watt subs. Not hooked up though. Don't want to anger the neighbors...lol. 3
BobTFM35 3,121 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Welcome to the Carver Site! Nice grouping of equipment. Might need to exercise one sub at a time to familiarize the neighbors what quality sound and base is all about! I have to feel that you graced either one or both of your Turntables with a Denon DL-103 or 103R? If so what did you use for your SUT and phono preamp Once again Welcome! 1
Community Admin AndrewJohn 11,028 Posted May 3 Community Admin Posted May 3 Welcome to TCS. I saw someone just sold that exact NHT setup and center channel on the NHT forum..., was that you that picked them up? Are yours black, rosewood, or the pickled white finish?
watchdog005 17 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 (edited) Sorry for the repeated post. Edited May 3 by watchdog005 Mistake
watchdog005 17 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 No I've had this gear for awhile except for the Adcom GFP-750 which I recently picked up. Bought everything separately. My 3.3 are black. Nice shape aside from a few minor nicks. Original boxes too. 1
watchdog005 17 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 You hit the nail on the head Andrew. I have the Denon 103r. Also Audio Technica cartridges both mm and mc with the audio technica 650 mc transformer. 1
BobTFM35 3,121 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I kind of figured that having a 1300 the 103R would be a great addition if that's what you mounted it on. I also have the 103R with a custom built SUT and tube phono preamp. Best combination that I have ever had. 1 1
watchdog005 17 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 Cool, tubes are nice. I was thinking about buying a tube phono stage or a Schiit Audio phono preamp but I decided to install the Creek phono card and I already had the audio technica SUT. 1
BobTFM35 3,121 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Sounds like a good combination with the ability to add a nice phono card. The option for a tube phono amp is always open.
watchdog005 17 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 (edited) Yes thats an option. The Creek sounds a bit tubey itself. Edited May 3 by watchdog005 Mistake 1
Half Life 1,288 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Welcome from Virginia! Enjoy your stay! Impressive equipment suite! 1
PhilDent 2,009 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Welcome @watchdog005! Both @Daddyjt and I are running the NHT 3.3s. I’m running them with the RAM 285 tube amp. He’s running them with a beast of an amp - the Mark Levinson 331. We are both NHT fans. I have 3.3, 2.9, 2.5, 2.5i, 1.5, AC2 speakers - many of these purchases enabled by him. 😁 1
watchdog005 17 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 I used to own the 2.5. Right now I have the 3.3 in original boxes, two 2.9, three AC2, four original made in USA Super ones, four Super Zero original made in USA black and two Super Zero original made in USA in white. One set of Super Ones made in USA original are new in boxes. I'm driving the 3.3 with the Creek Destiny and the sound is awesome. The Aragon 8008bb amplifier is a new toy I just hooked up to a small pair of Polk 25i speakers just to test it and it sounds great. Going to see how it sounds with the Aragon 8008bb Adcom GFP-750 preamplifier. The Aragon 8008bb amplifier was designed by Dan D'Agostino from Krell and the Adcom GFP-750 preamplifier was designed by Nelson Pass.

He also had a hand in my Hellcat Pro purchase over a Glock G43. 1 2
watchdog005 17 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 My B&K st-140, Proton D1200 Proton 1000 and Technics SA-800, SA-600, SA-500 equipment had to take back seats. But I'm in the process of setting up VTI racks to display them and keep them juiced up.
watchdog005 17 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 Nowhere to put my Six vintage EPI, Four vintage Advents, PSB and B&W speakers...lol. Had Vandersteens, Thiel, Spendor, Spica, Yamaha and some others on my bucket list. Just don't have the room. Once I move some of it I'll make room for the new. I'll listen to it and sell it. Fun just to hear new stuff I never heard. But nothing I know of will replace the 3.3. Got to move a Creek 5350se and 5250se eventually.
watchdog005 17 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 Mirage M-1 speakers, Energy Vertas, Celestion SL-700, ProAc, Snell, Dunlavy, Wilson Audio are on the bucket list. I have the Celestion SL-6S and SL-6SI. 3.3 might very well be the end game but I want to hear some others and resell them after hearing them. End game system don't mean the hobby and the fun ends. 1
