Atex 3
First off, great site! I am in the process of replacing some Carver gear a friend was storing for me, he got a divorce and his wife threw all his (and my stuff) out in the yard. I lost a tfm35 and a C-1 pre. When I found them they were all gunked up as it had rained and I just about cried. Today I received a mint C-1 with manual and an original brochure of the entire Carver line at the time! Next week I'm expecting a TFM-35 as well. These components will be paired with my beloved Polk SDA 1C speakers in a new workshop that will be finished in the next couple of weeks....wife says the big stuff is not allowed in the living room. I look forward to learning about some mods and bringing these gems back up to modern condition (caps ect), and learning from my fellow Carver fans. I've read a good deal about the BillD mods and am sorry to hear he has passed, I'm wondering if anyone can recommend someone who can do both the TFM-35 and the C-1 mods for me. I can solder and have worked in the music bidness but would rather not fool with it as I stay pretty busy this time of year as the owner of an air conditioning company (gets hot down here). Glad to be here and look forward to learning lots from the site!

dennismiller55 4,717
Welcome Atex to the site. I still consider myself a Texan. Born in Dallas, grew up in San Angelo. Life has planted me in Maine. But I am always planning my return. My plate is full right now, but others may be interested in repairing your gear. Give it the weekend, I bet you get a PM.
Atex 3
TNrabbit, yes I still have the tfm-25 but not the old C-1. Would love to send the new C-1, TFM-35 and the old 25 to someone to mod/repair...I especially want the remote mod and blue led's. Bluespwr, I actually dabble in the music biz as well as owning an ac company, produced a few projects, done some writing and managed a few bands as well. Most of my friends are local musicians, Jon Dee Graham is my amigo and one of our true treasures. I once worked for audio god Rupert Neve and was partners in a company called Burgin McDaniel Designs, we built pro studio gear (all analog). We have a pavillion on our property and have parties and house concerts all the time. Lately I've been digging a kid from Oklahoma named John Fullbright...he is an amazing talent. I'm 44 so I still like my old REM, The Tragically Hip, Crowded House/ Neil Finn, Willie, Waylon, Lyle Lovett....and of course being a native Austinite I do love me some blues...SRV, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins ect. I listen to pretty much everything under the sun. Check out John Fullbright on youtube, song called "Gawd Above". Then check out Jon Dee Graham doing "Faithless"....this type of music is my main staple, kinda americana roots stuff. Thanks for the welcome...enjoy the tunes!

oldtexasdog 2,366
Welcome to the forum! Good to see another Tex. Brother. Used to live in Austin had a house on the Stiner Ranch on the water. When it was still a ranch! Loved the music sceen-was involved with Jan Beeman and the old Armadillo. Those A-B- C- and D-vorces are a big B to be involved or close to! Stay around a while and enjoy the company.

Keep us updated......... Beware of the OCCD......... Oh yes, I want the blue led's and I am dying for a remote mod for the C-1. I have some friends who I think may be be able to work that out. My friend designed the entire Portico line and 5088 mixing console for Rupert Neve and is kinda known as one of the best in his field...it's just a matter of nudging him to do it for me. I've been a gear head forever and had all the "new" stuff...Parasound HCA2205, Outlaw Processor and I have come back to what I've always loved the most...Carver! Thanks for the welcome!
