TNRabbit 371 Posted June 25, 2009 Author Posted June 25, 2009 An old Altec vott? REGARDS SNOW Similar, but preceded the VOTT; it won a technical achievement award at the 1936 Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences ceremony....
OBI56 23 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Voice of the Theater? Nope, this is what the Voice of the Theatre looks like:
TNRabbit 371 Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 I won't keep you in suspense any longer: Lansing Manufacturing Shearer Horn Model 75W5 http://www.audioheritage.org/html/profiles/lmco/shearer.htm
OBI56 23 Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 OK, I like this game, so here is another mystery speaker for you guys to identify.
OBI56 23 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 B&W DM70 circa 1970. DAMN YOU BALOK!!!! :dd :dd :dd I thought this one would be harder! The B&W DM-70 OK then, here is another one for you guys. and no, it is NOT a liquor cabinet!
elgrau 89 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 That last one looks like the top view of a fancy crapper! :dd :dd The 2nd one like my grandmother's "iPod" :dd not a clue....carry on!
Harryfan 20 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Ummm... Bozak Grand Concert B-410. OBI, you might try changing the filename before you attach the pic. :dd
TNRabbit 371 Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 Ummm... Bozak Grand Concert B-410. OBI, you might try changing the filename before you attach the pic. :dd Yep; that's a DEAD giveaway! :dd :dd :dd
BillD 239 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 You guys are cheating. You aren't supposed to inspect the element, you're just supposed to know.
Harryfan 20 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Well, it's hard to keep from rolling the cursor over the pic. I can't help it if the answer just pops up! :dd
Balok 1,680 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 You guys are cheating. You aren't supposed to inspect the element' date=' you're just supposed to know.[/quote'] For the record, I did not stumble on the answer like the much smarter Harryfan.:dd I own B&W 805 and B&W 602. I had seen the picture of the DM70 somewhere recently (i can't remember where, but I knew that it was a B&W speaker). A quick google search on the history of B&W provided me with the name and date of the speaker. I guess I did it the hard way.
TNRabbit 371 Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 The question isn't whether you did or didn't cheat, it's WHY you felt you had to explain yourself... :-#
OBI56 23 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 GRRRR!!!! OK, lesson learned..... Harryfan didn't cheat; I was just dumb. BTW, the B&W DM-70 was one of the first successful hybrid electrostatics. So, lets try this one and cheaters beware ..... :d/ This one was both a success and a failure.
Balok 1,680 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I want to say "Car with trumpet stuck up its ass" ..............but I wonder if it has something to do with QUAD? Or, it is an electric hammer.
OBI56 23 Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Geez, no one wants to guess??? Do I have to give you a SECOND clue?
RichP714 3,163 Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 I have no idea, but it's museum material for sure; very quirky looking
OBI56 23 Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 OK, here goes. Invented in France, it was later redevelopped by an American and later, in its ultimate form by the Germans. It is a tweeter and was used in several high end speakers back then. It was a "glowing" example of technology in its day!
