Rich, do you think they would need a sub? 2x 6" scanspeak? I heard a canadian design that had incorporated 2x8" ( I beleive they were scanspeak)just last week, and I thought they were just cutting it. Perry

Nope TM these are a bit different. Weitrhino is the one that wants the Linkwitz, I do too, but the 6 channels of amplification are a no go for me. Linkwitz is a premiere designer, he has a cult following, always one of the best OB designers, period. This is a GR Research...Danny Ritchie design... a master in his own right. He has developed too many big name crossover designs to mention, just google him. The servo design and subs is a collaboration between GR and Rythmic audio. They have developed a super fast sub system......probably very compatible with the quick ribbons you are using.... They are getting many rave reviews, and they seem to meld very well with the quick response of OB systems. The subs and the amps are designed to work together. I do know that large slow moving subs have been a problem for both ribbon and OB designers, not quick enough. One of the reasons I chose the array design is that it uses multi 3" drivers, they are very fast and keep up to the ribbons nicely, letting me not have to cross the ribbons as low. If I have a weak link it would be with my subs, excursion and the time it takes for them to settle. I think this is what Bob Carver was addressing when he put 4 OB subs in a array in his ALSs, so they would keep up with his ribbons. New technology has arrived, that is one of the reasons I want to hear these new servo subs. OBI, I should of mentioned the drivers are all 12". The upper driver has the tweet built in the center, under dust cover. There is also a rear firing tweet. Steve, as soon as I get some time on them I'll let you know how they sound. Perry

Well I think I told you guys about the new Open Baffle speaker kit I'm getting......If not, now I have I paid for them back in December, but the designer has just now received all the parts and is ready to ship When I opened the e-mail and read the parts list and weights........I just about fell off my chair! I had no idea that these speakers would end up being this heavy, being open baffle. I should explain that each speak has a powered servo amp for the subs, and two subwoofers per box, but still the weight surprised me. Here is a breakdown: Per Cabinet 2 subwoofers...............20 lbs each...........40 lbs Servo amp.............................................17 lbs P Audio driver.........................................20 lbs Misc (x-over,tweet,wire,etc).......................8 lbs __________ Total......................................................85 lbs After I add on the MDF these are going to weigh in at well over 100 lbs !!! They are only just under 4' tall.........I have the option to remote the amps and lose 17 lbs.......think this is the way to go. For some reason I had thought maybe 50 lbs finished............so much for WAF :-" You guys dont even want to know what the shipping from Texas to Alberta is on 5 boxes that total 170 lbs ...... When I had my arrays done one of the questions that the designer asked was if I would be listening with grills or not. So I assume they take it in to consideration........in the crossover ?? Perry

Off........no small children, Two Jack Russels but they know better..... My new OBs will have grills on the bass drivers. Perry
